Not to be that guy, but yeah that's pretty much the point of their journey with Dorothy; they didn't magically get a brain, heart, or the nerve, they learned and earned their intelligence, compassion, and bravery through helping Dorothy to vanquish the Wicked Witch. The 'Wizard' even says at much, all he does is gives them acclimations acknowledging what they already earned themselves (although in the book, the Wizard actually gives the Lion alcohol instead of a medal, literally "liquid courage").

@@darkmask5933 The book makes a point the entire time that the Lion has mistaken feeling fear with cowardice, despite never acting on that fear, that the Tin Woodsman has conflated his lack of a muscle pumping blood for a lack of empathy, and the Scarecrow has mistaken his ignorance (he was born yesterday, almost literally) for stupidity.

Glinda had her own agenda. She made Dorothy a target! With both the other Witches dead, and the Wizard going back too Kansas, Glinda plan too take over Oz was complete!

Glinda does have her own agenda in the books, but it isn't selfish. She also isn't the one who sends Dorothy on this quest, that is a different Good Witch but also not a selfish one. Glinda's ultimate plan is to defeat the wicked witches (she already defeated the southern one, and Dorothy defeats the eastern and western ones) and free those enslaved to them and then find and restore the rightful ruler of Oz to the throne.

It's because they cut a character from the book out of the movie. In the book, Glinda is the Witch of the South and only shows up at the end. The Witch of the North is who Dorothy meets in Munchkinland and she really didn't know the power of the shoes and sends her to the Wizard.

One of the main issues at the beginning was the neighbor wanting to have Toto put down and coming back with the sheriff later, right? When the movie ends....that plot point was never actually resolved.

In the book, the Wizard does kind of give them what they ask for. He stuffs the Scarecrow's head with bran, pins, and needles, which make him "sharp," gives the Tin Woodman a stuffed heart that works as well as the real thing for some reason, and apparently gives the Lion booze, which makes him brave. I can't imagine why they changed all that for the movie.

Pretty sure Dorothy killed the wicked witch in cold blood and then stole her incredibly valuable magic slippers instead of passing them on to her remaining family member(s). And then she threw a damn party/parade.

Should be noted that the issue wasn't that Dorothy wouldn't believe the Witch, but that she didn't believe "there was no place like home". And it was never her plan for Dorothy to fight/kill the Wicked Witch, but instead to teach Dorothy to value her home (which would then allow her to go home). But of course, a lot of the stuff didn't make sense cause it was just a dream in the end....
