Not exactly, you should re-watch it. That was my childhood memory too, but in fact, he tells the Scarecrow that he doesn't need a brain, just a diploma. What a great, scary lesson! And he tells the Tin Man that a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others. Seriously?! I personally think that's an awful message.

after the 2nd time i saw this i thought "why didnt some munchkin grab water from a pond and through it at the witch killing her and why didnt dorothy , if a munchken did not through water, run at the witch and smack her to death with her basket and dog then i thought how the hell does a house not get torn topeices in a tornadoe and some how this house ends up ontop of some lady and why was there no blood under the house" and that is what i thought to myself.

@MrOli80 It was not Dorothy's fault. She just happened to appear in Oz and know the twisted Glinda first. I mean, if you are on a new place suddenly, weird and everything and you find a lady that is all sweetness (Glinda in desguise) and a green lady quite rude. Which one would you believe in? (Although I also like Elphaba n_n)

Agree.. Yet, I love this movie, it just seems I never truly understood it. I mean the start of the movie basically had Dorothy trying to save her dog from the mean woman that would later on symbolize the wicked witch. I always assumed that as the main problem in the movie. I mean the whole sequence in OZ was just a dream.. It did not really solve anything about the dog. The only way in which the ending could have resolution would have been that the mean woman at the start died in the tornado.

yeah the wizard didn't really give them anything, but the lessons they learned in the adventure did. Also nice observation on the munchkins carrying rifles. Although it could be said it required either water or sufficient physical trauma (like some vampires). But we will never know. Besides what kind of lame weakness is it for a small splash of water to kill something?
