I don’t think so, but I do believe those were supposed to be sparks coming from either the smokestack, or the firebox. There’s also a possibility that could be mud coming from the rest of the train altogether, since there was a rainstorm in the movie. But I doubt that could be blood coming from the train, that’s just wrong in my opinion.

Right off the ball you have the wrong bell on the locomotive in L&TT. The film is set in 1908-1910. Bell wouldn't have been a pneumatic bell as you have but rather one that's hand rung. Also, your SFX are for a cross compound air pump, when the locomotive should have a single phase, as per the era. Funny enough, the original film is closer to a single phase's "Pah-puhh" then what you showed.

I’m going to be honest with you, I did not notice that. But what do you mean “single phase?” Is that some kind of pump that steam locomotives used from that era? I mean if they’re still around today, that’s what I’m wondering.

@@T128Productions On a cross compound pump the steam cylinders are connected such that the exhaust from the smaller high pressure cylinder drives the larger low pressure. Giving a quick rapid "Pah-pah" sound. A single phase only has one high pressure cylinder. It's sound would be more of a slower "Puh-pussh", much like the original film. (You can even see Tramp's snoring matching the rythemn of the pump) Single phases where very common on locomotives pre-1900. The cross compound came into use around the first world war. Lots of locomotives today still carry single phases. All the Disney locomotives do. Pretty much all smaller locomotives carry one as it requires less steam to operate. In the case of the railroad scene from L&TT, they actually had the correct locomotive sounds. Disney animators where railfans, and they knew what they where looking for. Even the whistle in L&TT is believed to be from the Emma Nevada, a period correct locomotive. Your version is too modern, between the air pump and the pneumatic bell it sounds like a locomotive from the 1940s. The chuffs are also really deep, and speak to a locomotive with large piston valve cylinders rather then the slide valves of a correct period locomotive. All in all, it's pretty darn wrong. The sounds a locomotive makes are like a fingerprint to the locomotive. The sounds of the air compressor, injector run off, dynamo, even the number of chuffs and their depth all tell what the locomotive is. It's why I get a kick when I see these "How they should have sounded" videos and it's clear someone who has no idea what they are doing is just grabbing stock train sounds and throwing them over the footage from the original film. Doing no better a job then the original animators, just with recordings rather then in-studio foly.
