Hi Lamont My dad had a cousin that lived in Joplin. We would go and visit quite often. I don't remember how the town was decades ago but I know that tornado that went through there years back was traumatic. I myself would like to check out the flea market. Never know what treasures you might find.

I honestly think the videos on dieing or abandoned tows are the most boring and does not take my interest at all! I can't stand those videos so, I honestly can't see why anyone else would either but, just my opinion. Years ago, my grandparents owned a steakhouse in Lake Ozark. I was a little boy, but I remember that if my grandma needed something special, we'd drive up to Jefferson City. If she needed something REALLY special, we'd go the other way, to Joplin. It was a long drive!

Here's my take on LA is dying. I've been going to LA since the 60's and enjoyed it. If you take away Hollywood and the bulk of entertainment industry that employs actresses, models and singers, LA has no soul: just another major city like SF which I can go there for that particular experience. People want to run into the "it" girls and celebrities. If you don't have that: what's the point? The best time to be in LA was around 1984-1986 when you had all the actions like Hard Rock Cafe/Tramp of London at the Beverly Center and Vertigo and Helena's in Downtown LA where you can run into really cool crowd. Sunset Pl. was the place to see and be seen. Now, where do you go for this kind of action? Atlanta, Vegas, Europe and Miami?!!! To much competition, and LA lost out.
