I’ve worked my entire life doing hard manual labor, mostly construction and carpentry and I wanted to get out of the trades for something I thought at the time would’ve been “a lot easier.” So about four years ago I applied at Dollar General and worked there for about three weeks before I quit a couple hours into my shift. One of my first jobs was at a Dollar Tree.. we would have people come in asking for refunds on items, even on the food we sold and we couldn't refund them, only do exchanges and people became IRATE when I would explain this. This is 100% accurate for Dollar General! I managed a store for one year, and it took YEARS off of my life. My blood pressure got dangerously high, I started losing my hair, and I wasn't getting any sleep. No matter how MUCH you do for them, it is NEVER enough!!! They just keep cutting payroll while adding more and MORE tasks to do! They paid me well, but I just couldn't take the stress any longer, as it just wasn't worth it! I had a wonderful team, but I didn't have any hours budgeted to me to give them. Our store was pretty busy with customers most of the time, so there was NEVER any time for recovery. Plus, we usually got a 1200-1300 piece truck every week and had NO ROOM in our stockroom to store it. It was a nightmare! Dollar General needs to WAKE UP and get with the program! Most of their stores are a mess, and ALL of them are understaffed!!!
