Happy birthday Beckett so thankful for you and celebrate your life today! 🎉how you use your channel and all that you’re learning to glorify God and encourage, exhort and challenge us! I actually just got back Saturday from a mission trip in Indonesia and witnessed all of this firsthand, especially in Bali where it is majority Hinduism. I had an interesting conversation with our cab driver who was Hindu. He was telling us about the daily sacrifices they make-you see them everywhere in front of the stores and buildings. And I told the cab driver “That’s the difference between Christianity & Hinduism- it’s interesting in your religion, you have to keep making sacrifices to your gods every day all the time. In my religion, our God made one final sacrifice for us!”

Greetings from Israel, Becket and Sunita. My husband and I worked for three months in Kolkata late 2017/early 2018 to establish a small factory for producing digital audio players with audio Bibles and other types of Christian messages on them. We had an opportunity one day to attend a tent gathering of invited Hindus to hear the gospel. The preacher was native, dressed all in white garb as many of the attendees were, and there were flowers all around. He was teaching from the First Century Writings in a cultural context. It was a beautiful and enlightening experience for me, having myself come to faith on Atlantic Beach in NY via a lifeguard!

One thing I wish she'd have gone into is the claim that these are the 'oldest religions '. There's a Christian convert from the Brahmin caste that says that for all the evidence, Hinduism doesn't go back farther than 200-300BC, so the claim is simply spurious on it's face
@Carmen-wz3rc5 күн бұрын
I love hearing the historical aspects this talk. I also love how she explains that we need to look at different religions internally ie their roots, the nature of the beliefs and not just cherry pick the bits we like.

Why do you misquote Scripture? Here's what Paul actually wrote: "There is one God and one mediator between God and men: the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5) You are to get your theology *from* Scripture. Not fit your theology into Scripture by CHANGING WHAT IT SAYS!

32:57 - I recently watched a short film on China's churches and they interviewed a pastor from underground church and another pastor from a more "official public" church and they both said the government does not allow them to speak about End Times or anything on book of Revelations😳🤔 which I found very interesting. That is why the pastors from underground churches decide to stay underground, so they CAN teach and preach the entire Bible, including end times.

I grew up in a very small village about 80 homes in Burma. And there was a man who practiced witchcraft and we were told he has a Palm, and we were told he feeds the Palm with blood but we have never seen it. I knew the whole family and friends with their children. One day, the man’s relative has wedding in other town and he went to the wedding and stayed there like two weeks or something. He left his two daughters home to watch the house. And one day, the two daughters were taking bath near the house because we didn’t have showers in the house. They have water reservoir and that’s how they were taking bath. And the elder sister finished her bath and went up into the house and she noticed the door was kinda crack opened she asked the younger sister if she closed the door when went out and the younger sister told her she did close the door. So when she tried to push to open the door she saw a palm and that thing tried to catch her and she screamed and jumped out of the house. The whole village heard and came and asked her. And she said she saw a palm. Later we heard that the man sold the palm ✋ to someone else. One of the man’s sons later became Pator and he contacted my mom, requested that we would pray for his father because he is still practicing the old stuffs. I remembered the whole villagers were Christians except that man. I mean I never saw he went to church.

RE: inner barbarians & outer barbarians. I worked with a nurse who was from Korea. She said she was not offended by the term "Oriental", that was a true way to describe her. She said that China, Korea and Japan are eastern and that Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese value fair skin. She also told me certain other Asian cultures were NOT Eastern, even saying they were 'darker skinned' in a less than positive way. That was the 1st time I ever saw prejudice from within an Asian viewpoint. I'm guessing this is an example of the inner versus outer barbarian view.

💖thanks Sunita and Becket. Perhaps you could do an episode on common eastern practices that have infiltrated the west and that Christians should be aware of and have nothing to do with. More practices are becoming accepted as normal in the west and more Christians are getting blindly drawn in. Especially when they claim to have medical/health benefits. Sunita I love 💕 you. Khun Chavoret Januboon, in his book about himself “The Last Executioner of Thailand” writes that he consulted with a Buddhist priest concerning the death penalties that he carried out. The Buddhist priest told him that it was best that the convicts died before they could sin further and therefore be reincarnated at a lower level than they would be if they died at this point. The death penalty was reinstated in Thailand after a temporary halt.

There are two quotes I thought of during this interview. “It was the best of religions; it was the worst of religions. It brought life, love, and compassion to a dark and cruel world. It also brought torture, repression, ignorance, slavery, and death to an innocent world. It burned with Light and Truth. It also burned the Bible and those who believed it. “Those who adhered to it built universities, hospitals, and orphanages. They also justified poverty, exploitation, war, and conquest. They brought food to the hungry, medicine to the sick, work to the destitute, and hope to the hopeless. They filled the earth with contempt for man, contempt for God's creation, and contempt for God. “What is this thing called ‘Christianity’? The Bible does not tell us. The Bible talks about something else.” The Separation of Church and Faith: Copernicus and the Jews (page 186) by Daniel Gruber The other one is from a book called Rabbi Akiba’s Messiah by the same author. I searched and searched for my copy and I can’t find it. I had it out recently, and that’s what I get for not putting it away. I will keep looking.
@deannesanv89312 күн бұрын
Okay, I found my book and here is the second quote. :) “In the first and second centuries in Judea, people did not view religion and politics as separate, much less antagonistic, spheres. In the modern Western world, it does not seem difficult to distinguish between Church (or Synagogue) and State, even though their activities sometimes overlap. After all, they have a different polity, structure, and purpose. To some extent, these Western distinctions are misleading. ‘Religion’ and ‘politics’ are different names for essentially the same thing. They cover the same territory: the determination of values and standards, permitted and prohibited behavior, justice and injustice, individual and community welfare, the proper and improper use of authority and power, the rights and responsibilities of wealth and property, and the proper training of future generations. In sum, they are about the correct purpose and course of human society.(2) For ancient Romans, Jews, and Christians, religion and politics were inseparable.” Rabbi Akiba’s Messiah: The Origins of Rabbinic Authority page 4 (by Daniel Gruber)
