I was thinking of buying the 1/4 inch drive and getting the repair kit for the compact 3/8 and swapping the internals. I'd end up with a silver button but better than $350 for the set that includes the ratchet. the outer dimensions are exactly the same.

@@KoonTrucking im referring to the 3/8 compact head. 3/8" anvil in the 1/4" head that you featured in this video models nbrc390, nbrc390l, or nbrc390s. It appears you could purchase the repair kit for these ratchets and put it into the 1/4" rachets head such as the nbr290. They are both listed as 22mm in diameter and 11mm in depth on KTC's website. The only difference i can see between the repair kits for the 1/4" and the 3/8" COMPACT is that the anvil is bigger. The pawl and all the other internal pieces appear identical.

I was impressed with these reviews of Nepros ratchets. I liked the compact head design. I looked them up and found that the ratchets alone are nearly $200. It is absolutely not worth it to me to spend that much on a single tool. I am sure they are great tools, but I just don't have that kind of money. If I needed one of the specialty ratchets to get a job done and the cost of the tool didn't completely wipe out my profit on the job, I might consider one. But I haven't found myself in that position just yet.
@roverworks48863 жыл бұрын
Seems nice, but as a professional technician I cant wait to mail off my broken tools. The price i pay for the tool truck brands more than pay for themselves when I can get them fixed or replaced every week when the tool truck comes by. Now if I was a weekend garage mechanic doing work once a month or so, they might work. For a professional tech the tool truck prices more than pay for themselves in the long run.
@KoonTrucking3 жыл бұрын
Well if you are breaking ratchets weekly that’s a bad thing but all you have to do is send one email and have the repair kit sent out. Probably faster than when the tool truck comes the next week. I know what you are saying but think about it. If you break your ratchet the day after he came by it’s 6 more days ….. Mail comes daily and can be shipped in 2-3 ?
@roverworks48863 жыл бұрын
@@KoonTrucking The mail comes daily? Most companies only ship out on work days, and nothing is delivered Sundays. I'm not saying I'm breaking my tools every week, just that I have the opportunity to have any broken tools fixed every week. @Jacks Journale lots of mechanics in Japan love snap on. They use their ratchets and sockets all the time. Snap on tool boxes with custom color ways is nothing new there. Seems as if you are bias to your own home country. Japanese mechanics never complain about warranty or about pricing with "imported" tools from America. I see your comments all the time.
