I am a recovering perfectionist. I have just relapsed. They are the perfect ratchet. The recessed button tipped me over the edge. Koken Tools are another good Japanese company. Their wheel brace is about the best I have ever seen.

The last time I was in Japan, I dropped by one of their popular tool shops (Factory Gear) in Tokyo which was a big mistake. I ended up walking out with a whole bunch of Nepros tools which I didn't need. :P

In a world where we are being conned by the tool companies it is lovely to see the perfection of Japanese tools. I think it is safe to say that any company that delivers a finish like that time after time is making honest stuff.

Starret or Mitutoyo generally for precision measuring. Calipers I prefer dial but if it’s a digital caliper, it has to be liquid proof. Ok, I don’t need my tools in fancy packages. A simple cardboard box would suffice. But that stubby with female 3/8” is slick

Ratchets are legit. Only issue I've encountered is the set screw on the flex heads. They loosen up with time and even if you tighten them down, or even use theeadlocker, they still loosen up.

I like the bigger ends at the tip of the handle. Easy to hold onto with two figures looks like. They look a little fat though. Not as good of clearance as some ratchets I bet. What are the boxes made from. Cardboard? The sockets don't look that special to me. Look like Williams kinda. Screw drivers look nice. Also I like wood handled stuff. If it breaks you can put a new handle on it. And I like doing that sorta thing.

I've been wanting to get some nepros tools as they are the most beautiful tools on the market as well as most expensive even more so than snap on ,they make snap on look like craftsman in comparison. I just have so many tools it just don't make sense to me,there is no used nepros to buy on ebay no one sells them second hand so you have to pay the outrageous price and they are worth like half once they are used. I decided to stay USA on my tools for ease of warranty but they are worth buying if you want to look at them I don't see anyone using theirs everybody I've met that has them just keep them as box queens why even buy pretty tools if you won't use them just buy jewelry and wear it you'll get more use I know I wouldn't want to use them either.

Nepros tools are meant to be used and appreciated. You won't benefit from all the user-friendly features unless you actually use them for what they are. What good is it to NOT use them!? Am I a heretic for using them? Haha.

It's not a tumor. It's not a Phillips. Often improperly referred to as Japanese Phillips. Commonly found in Japanese equipment. JIS looks much like a Phillips screw (and even more similar to Frearson), but is designed not to cam out and will, therefore, be damaged by a Phillips screwdriver if it is too tight. Heads are usually identifiable by a single raised dot to one side of the cross slot. JIS B 1012:1985 screw standard is throughout the Asia market and Japanese imports. The driver has a 57 degree point with a flat tip, parallel wings. That's why a Snap-On phillips never fully seats down on a cross head screw on a Toyota/Lexus.

How does the stubby handle compare to snap on for spinning with a finger?
@Rob-pg7rb
@Rob-pg7rb 3 жыл бұрын
Just got my Nepros 3/8 long compact ratchet (90 tooth) and compared it to my Snap On 1/4 fine tooth ratchet (72 tooth) because the heads were about the same size. HANDS DOWN...SNAP ON WAS MADE BETTER!! I took them both apart and compared the internals. First thing I noticed was the backing place was VERY LOOSE on the Nepros compared to the Snap-On. I had to be careful because I almost stripped the little phillips head screws on the Nepros. Snap On hex were screws much larger. You could tell just by the backing plate the Snap On was machined BETTER! The Snap on plate even had a rubber o-ring seal for the head driver!! The best way to ruin a ratchet is to let liquid get inside the head. Obviously Snap-On knows this and Nepros does not. Nepros had oil lubrication, the Snap had grease. The paw on the Snap On was LARGER than the Nepros and you could also tell the tolerance on everything inside the head was much tighter on the Snap-on. Im glad I just bought one Neros just to try it out. The first red flag should of been the pretty box the Nepro came in. Sure the chrome was better than the Snap On, but chrome plating is probably one of the easiest steps in the manufacturing process compared to the fine machining. I was very disappointed with the Nepros.
