In this video, an African American lawyer, Markus Green, explains why he chose to become a Ghanaian citizen.
Markus Green is an American lawyer who has chosen to become a Ghanaian citizen. In this video, Markus explains why he made this decision and how it has affected his life. Markus discusses the positive aspects of Ghanaian citizenship, including its strong sense of belonging. He also discusses the challenges of living as a black person in the United States, and how being a Ghanaian is very important for him. He graced The Dentaa Show to share his experience. He said, 'I am American by Force but a Ghanaian by CHOICE'
The ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019’ was a kickstart campaign to bring foreigners, particularly from the black diaspora, to Ghana, as visitors or as tourists. This would bring in fresh skills and capital, and place Ghana more firmly on the global map as a key destination spot.
It has been three years since Ghana hosted ‘The Year of Return, Ghana 2019’, a year-long program of activities marking the 400th anniversary of the first recorded enslaved Africans to the US.
On the 22nd of December 2022, Ghana granted citizenship to over 100 African Americans and Afro-Caribbeans as part of the Year of Return. Mr. Markus Green was also a Ghana citizenry recipient and Part of the Celebration.
Markus Green who is a Lawyer sits on Many Boards and also serves as an Assistant General Counsel, for Pfizer, Inc., the world’s largest Pharmaceutical Company. At Pfizer, Mr. Green helps lead the Government Litigation Group of the Legal Department. As part of Government Litigation, Mr. Green works with local, state, and federal prosecutors.

Speaking of “made in Ghana” products, I have started wearing from time to time my Ghanaian professional outfits to corporate and management meetings at my company in the US. I feel proud being a Ghanaian in the US and I agree Ghana should keep promoting the country and get folks to come and visit and experience this wonderful country. I am also definitely waiting on Ghana Airlines, what a privilege that will be!

I feel for the African Americans. Am in a relationship with one. It's sometimes overwhelming. They suffer from racism where they are born. They are happy when they come. Yet when doing errands here, they also face the challenges of being recognised as Americans from their look and then having to pay higher prices. And then the moment they make new friends here with local people, the later are mostly requesting for money money and help about how to move to America.

Great interview🫡 Thank you Dentaa….39k children sitting on the floor to study while in school….another way to help is by engaging the Officials, Executives in charge of those areas, including the Govt Minister….oftentimes, SADLY, money is earmarked for these projects and there’s NEVER AN AUDIT or proper accountability….when we get the right leaders in place; the Africa of our desires-esp of the exposed Diaspora….would begin emerge! The West couldn’t care one way OR the other, they’ll respond with aid!!

well said however, Our LEADERS is a whole topic all together.. Let us forget about them for now and do what we have to do until WE become the leaders,..

Also, you must re-evaluate what you believe “AID” to be. The U.S. government agency USAID is not about “philanthropic AID”. It stands for “United States Agency for International Development”. So “AID” means obtaining access to foreign trade, commerce, markets and basically making MONEY. Stay discerning. ❤️💫🌍

@@HoneyBunches100 agree! Not all aid is useless and I think it’s become a dirty word in the last couple of years 😂!

very happy to see the return of my African American brothers and sisters. But the problem is that they all settle in Ghana for the most part, because of the policy of kwame n'kruma. Ghana is not a big country, Ghana cannot accommodate all of America's black diaspora on his territory. it is necessary that the other countries of africa initiate a policy to welcome our brothers and sisters of america who wish to come to africa.
