would like more content like this where we get some stuff that helped them to climb over their hurdles, im sure alot ppl will find alot to relate to from this type of interviews when often the point from point style curtis often does only resonates on shallow level as is for my case, interview style fits me so much better where i can figure stuff out easier :>

I feel like Curtis would kill me if I was in his academy (I'm still trying to get in...) because I somehow managed to reach 750LP grandmaster and my top 10 most played champs were things like: Sion, Janna, Pyke (mid), Gragas, Heimer (support), Khazix tank (mid), Trynda (mid), AP Varus (mid), Seraphine (mid) and Rakan (top)

I don't know where else to comment this since I'm not part of your payed program (so no Discord). The thumbnail looks really bad imo. Not only do I personally dislike these reaction faces, but this one is particularly bad. It kinds makes my face cringe when I see it in my subscriptions, especially on my phone. I hope you update it with a better bust 👤 image that isn't that forcefully cartoony. Love the video though. It was interesting to hear someone who went through the process :]

Pretty cool to see. Im very excited that your uploading a very different style of video compared to your usual content. But I do have one question: Why should I go on a secondary account to learn a new champion. I have lost 600 LP on my main in the preseason my learning Jinx and Zeri Bottom (not Mid). And after this loss of LP I was climbing all the way back. Why is this a problem?
@amender20762 жыл бұрын
well the point is because you will climb faster if you don't waste your time reclimbing the 600 lp and are good at the champ when you play on your main with it, rather than deranking to rerank up
@amender20762 жыл бұрын
also can be demoralizing to get stomped learning a new champ and creates very negative environment for your games and a bad time

I wonder if Steve meditates cause he seems so reflective. One of your best videos so far for sure. This is some deep stuff, even if you think outside of league.
@Stevenator5462 жыл бұрын
I don't madidate, but Curtis and I actually had a discussion just a few days ago about looking into it and potentially starting to. I'm someone who's brain never turns off, so its a double edged sword that keeps me up at night and doesn't let me relax too often, but it means I have the chance to reflect alot.
@idsea2 жыл бұрын
@@Stevenator546 Oh wow I didn't expect a reply from you personally. Congrats on reaching one of your goals! I would highly recommend you giving meditation/mindfulness a shot. Check out Michael Gervais if you're not fully convinced :D Gervais is a High-Performance Coach for the NFL and also coached Felix Baumgartner when he did the stratosphere jump. A lot of what you've already talked about in this interview reminded me of what Gervais said (mental blocks, being more in the present, awareness of emotions). Also, there's lots of different meditation styles! The typical focusing on breath / one pointedness of mind is just one of many. It doesn't need to be a double edged sword!

Coach Curtis I have question if you could help me or anyone in the comments. I have most mastery over fizz I play him probably the best I as a person can, but the highest I achieved is gold 2 with him. While when I play jungle I am able to achieve Gold 1 playing picks like khazix, evely, and nunu. Should I continue trying to perfect fizz more to reach diamond, or should I switch to jungle, which gives me the best chance? Thank you guys love your videos and love the community.

hey coach this video brought up a question from me. You say how Steve lacked an “identity” in his champions and as a result couldnt climb. Does this mean it is best to have an identity in ones champ pool? (Ex: playing roamers, playing control mages, etc.)

While I stopped league a long time ago at a very respectable rank your videos still help me to push my limits in dota and come back time and time again to get better and better. Thank you for your great videos. They're truly inspiring not just for league, but for esports and because of the general nature and holistic views apply to any other discipline aswell. Your ideas and words resonate with so many things that I was able to experience myself during my initial climb of getting good at video games. But I have never taken the ideas apart and analyzed tham as thoroughly as you do. This is a great refresher on all the things that I had a glimpse of while grinidng hard myself. And there is so much useful added background knowledge and thought experiments and applied principles that it really helps inspire oneself and refocus on what's important. Great work. Nothing else to add.

Hey Curt, ex high diamond here. Im 22 and feel like its too late for me to try and get back into league competitively and to push to become pro. Whats your take on this? Is there an age cap to being at the top?
@Pfannkuchenkanone2 жыл бұрын
No, don't believe what you hear from others. For some ppl this might be true but at your age you can definitely reach Challenger very quickly if you put in the work and from there you can decide if you have what it takes to go pro. I mean there's only one way to find out and I think you should try. You may "lose" one or two years of your life but still better than regretting not to have tried :) good luck!
@Pentton2 жыл бұрын
biggest reason people plateau when they become adults is that they don't have the hours the teenager has to put in work. use the adulthood as an advantage and use the limited hours more profound instead of just spamming games on autopilot with random champs.
@lefroste63702 жыл бұрын
there isn't but if it doesn't work out then its gonna be pretty tough
@flyrehash51242 жыл бұрын
Coach is usually pretty brutally honest with people who want to go pro (see his BBC podcast for examples), and he would tell you to give up... not because he wants to destroy your dream, but because he doesn't want you to have false hope and waste a lot of time trying to achieve it if you're not already top 10 challenger there is NO way that any team is EVER going to pick you up over a 16-18 year old who is already in challenger (possibly multi-season challenger). even trying to break into challenger from high diamond is going to take at least 2 years, by then you'll be 24 and even MORE unlikely to get picked up sorry dude. I think most people wish they could have gone pro at some point (myself included), but it's just not in the cards for us

Yess, I think it's true for a lot of people that this theme of control mixed with this "unit of measurement" analogy equals to how this game can be frustrating: When you think in low resolution/in a low unit of measurement and something goes wrong, it becomes very frustrating because you feel like you have no control of the situation because you literally can't perceive why things actually happened. Overall amazing interview, very great points and insights

The section about resets was interesting and it got me thinking that I don't really know much about when or why to reset for tempo or how the "push and pull" of the game works. Would be an interesting video concept imo. I don't think there's really much content about this on youtube at all. Excellent video though, love the new type of content and the uploading more frequently!
