I agree 100% I am also so sick of 0 feedback buyers trying to scam me. It happens at least 10 times a week. I do sell high end electronics. So I do expect some scammers but it has gotten really bad lately. eBay should use the feedback rattling to settle disputes in my opinion. If a buyer has 0-10 feedback and is obviously trying to scam you and you have over 1,300 feedback. You would think eBay would trust your word over theirs. Sorry for the rant.

Ebay does little to protect it's sellers. Prime, high volume sellers don't try to scam their buyers, or they would lose their rating. Still, Ebay almost always finds for the buyers....I don't get it.

Yes that’s true. I use to sell on eBay. Sent packages out with tracking number they would say never got package. eBay would just deduct from my pay pal account making me a negative. I called said not right you taking all my pay pal money - basically got no where with eBay.

The system is broken, buyer can claim not as described, return a different item, leave you a negative and the negative feedback most likely stays, you lose your item plus shipping both ways.

ebay is full of scammers. The sad part is that some scammers are resellers too! A fellow reseller purchased from me an expensive tunic (one I had purchased at online retail store). Then she opened INAD case, sent me back different tunic (same brand, different print and the belt on tuni was thorn with threads hanging). I recorded a video at post office how I opened the parcel. Showed it on my youtube channel. Contacted ebay and ebay had told me "we don't know what you'd shipped her" so ebay refunded her $180 and I ended up without money and without my tunic and ebay kept their 20% fees as well! ebay told me "it's part of doing business". Now I have a scammer who'd purchased from me another item. Opened INAD. Sent photos and pointed her finger on something that doesn't even make sense. Said "I'll send it ASAP" it's been 2 weeks, no item. ebay has given her 30 days to ship!!!! It's ridiculous! I bet she'd opened the case in advance so meanwhile she can try to re-sell my antique item elsewhere! at ebay they do NOT protect sellers!! Even if a seller has 2k+ 100% feedback on multiple accounts

We've gotten similar scam e-mails from eBay scammers. They seldom have a clue about what the item actually was, and they're trying to get a refund on SOMETHING, anything at all. Yes, it's a scam. We just ignore these and don't even reply. Ebay was as useful as a screen door on a submarine with this situation. Ignore it.

Any system like eBay will always be rife with scammers, especially the older they get, the code that creates the site gets well known to the point all hackers have to do is create automated systems to post and respond to certain ads, of course over time eBay will need to up their game, change the code, add new features and as a result will always open up new exploits. so IMHO, anything that is digital commerce will always be exploited. it's the nature of the BEAST. The only way to ovoid scam and tricks like this and to stay secure is to unplug your computer from the electrical outlet and walk away, or go live out in the middle of the desert off the grid and even then, their is a chance someone will attempt to scam you oh what a world. oh the webs we weave. LOL

Hello Pete, hope you’re well. You can ALWAYS tell a scammer on eBay by the transaction or feedback count being so low. I’ve sold items and then got messaged by ANOTHER member’s account saying they bought the item and want it shipped to “XYZ” address instead. I immediately know it’s a scam because I message every buyer after the sale and thank them for their purchase and update shipping information almost immediately. Once again, the message comes from a compromised account. Scammers need to GET A DAMN LIFE!!! I’m still going to come to your shop, I’m about 3 hours west of you in the Quad City area and I have a lot of vintage stereo 8 track equipment (Montgomery Ward, GE) and TONS of 8 track tapes (Elvis, Lawrence Welk, etc.) from my grandparents that still works and in mint condition that would fit in well by your vinyl and I think my grandpa would want someone to enjoy his collection, not just collect dust. 👍

Just an FYI if you can find a good MIG welder he can repair the BMX frame. I have owned numerous BMX bikes and the cracks I see on the frame are fixable and the bike will be good as new. I would sell the bike as parts only for $200 including the frame as the buyer has to understand that the frame is cracked. I have bought crack frames before on high end BMX frames and taken them to a MIG welder and had them repaired then repainted them. I either sold them or kept them to ride.

What a stupid scam, do people ever fall for that? If somebody buys and pays for an item, managed payments will let you know, OW it's BS. These guys are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Likely you do FAR more eBay selling than I do (only about 2K for us, just a hobby) but we have only had about four people try to scam us so far. When people make offers we look up their feedback to others and don't sell to them when bad. Obviously you can't do that on direct buys at price. eBay has judged for us every time, but we keep meticulous records, packing vids, etc. I know people that sell certain types of things have more trouble, on average, and I hear electronics is one of them. Yeah, sucks when you overlook a problem, but sucks WAY worse if you miss it before the sale. Good catch on the bike, nice of someone to point it out. I think I would have given him a 10% further discount. :-) I know people that have had frame failures on bikes that gave up riding totally afterward. They can be really bad, many teeth gone, broken bones, head injuries, etc in different instances. I myself did a wicked spiral fracture just below the shoulder joint that took me about a year to heal properly, but that was 100% my own stupid fault, nothing to do with the bike failing. If you know someone that is a GOOD cheap welder you could probably fix it, but probably not worth it for that bike, at it's 'good shape' retail value. Still some risk involved if it failed, though done right it's not likely. And you'd have to paint it....so maybe not. The right fix is replace the two tubes, good as new if done by a competent bike repairer, but likely WAY too much cost. If the bike was worth a K finished, then probably.

Still, this would be a case of the seller not thinking at all; if I didn't get a notice from eBay saying a purchase was made, like I said, I'd just tell them to try again, I'm not shipping until eBay tells me I've been paid. There are so many videos coming out on KZbin of sellers having problems with eBay stopping there accounts, siding with the buyers even after the seller show proof of the transaction in there favor when a customer puts in a claim against the seller. I know you run a tight ship and do good by your customers but see what's going on in the eBay world of siding with the buyers and not with a long time seller.

That Harley jacket is NICE! Harley merch always sells well. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a set of Fire King mugs from the 50s that had Harley logos. My husband wouldn't let me buy them because they were too "ordinary". One just like those sold last month on eBay for $145. There were six mugs at a yard sale, a buck apiece, but hubby said they weren't worth it! Oh, I meant to say, EX-husband! lol Good thing he wasn't with me in 2003 when I found 8 framed Patrick Nagel serigraphs (triple matted by famous art gallery). These hand silk-screened prints originally sold in the early 80s for @ $2000 each, all hand signed by Nagel. Only 250 prints of each were made, so they are numbered. They came from the estate of a movie executive in Palm Springs. I paid $20 each, and the frames alone are worth much more than that! Nagel died in 1983, at the height of his popularity. Hubby thought I was stupid for buying them, so I sold my 2 least favorites on eBay for $200 each just to show him they had value, but I wish I'd kept them. One of those sold for $1700 recently, but the ones I kept are better. One is his most famous work, the cover of Duran Duran's album "Rio". The best was a special edition that he not only signed, but hand-painted part of the silk-screened print. Only 10 were made like that, and I've yet to see one come up for auction in the last 18 years. I mentioned on a Nagel website that I own this, and got several emails from excited collectors, but none that made a reasonable offer, they wanted to steal it for $200. When I bought these 18 years ago, no one was interested in something that was so obviously from the 80s, but now with shows like "Stranger Things", popular icons of the 80s are hot again. I keep hoping a movie will actually focus on Nagel's art and life, he was interesting! I love his style of artwork, so I would have bought them anyway just because.

I don't think I want to risk selling them on eBay, though, because of how bad the scamming has become. The art galleries in Palm Springs weren't interested in them 18 years ago, but now they are, but I'm being told to wait if I want to get the best price. I'll get less selling them through a gallery, but it will be safer. No scam buyer to tell eBay that I sent a fake, or some other crap where I could lose the whole thing.

Not 20 seconds later a bid came in for 1.40 so I ran it up to $40.00 and someone bid it up to $41.50......I'm wondering if the seller is doing it because in 4 days no bids at all an all of a sudden there's now 5 bids and it's selling for $41.50

The scammer was probably using a fake account as you see the the 2 on the side. They can make several fake accounts and paste the picture of the item that is selling and making it look like you sold it to them. Sorry on your bike. When you see bright color new paint, I think someone trying to cover it before they sell it. I figured that Packer bag would sell. Thanks Pete.

Weld the bike! That happened to me riding down steps I took it to a welding shop an they fixed it up an it never broke again

The problem is that they are a business and they cannot control how the bike is used by the buyer. I am not saying that it is wrong what you did. Since you control how the bike is used, welding the frame is a viable option for you. I would do the same thing if I rode a bicycle myself.

You weld the frame. Also when you sale used as is stuff. There isn’t liability for a used pike a pawn shop

I don’t know about that. When someone buys from a pawnshop they expect that item to work. Now, if it was defective to begin with and the pawnshop said good to go and you have an accident and end up in the hospital, I bet that pawnshop is liable because they sold you something that was a safety hazard. I’m no lawyer but if that happened to me, I will lawyer up immediately unless I died from the accident. This may be something I need to look up though.
