@@ThePursuitofHappiness Next to nothing after start-up costs, depend on the containers that you use. I've been thinking of microgreens buy may do full tomatoes, berries and such instead. It's really just your time that you put in and what you charge is based on what the market is charging in comparison to what you can afford to sell your products for. You can start small and scale it up (recommended). It's of course based on demand as well. Best way to find out is to call around (restaurants are a good starting point) and see what's available to make deals on. There's so many ways to exchange goods for money, it's unreal. Hard part is the footwork and finding what other people are charging to give you an idea of what to break into. Remembered to pay yourself as well.

So, if you work incredibly hard to innovate and develop your own idea, and take great risk financially to do so, you would have no problem with someone else taking that idea from you and profiting at your expense? And, by your logic, if you do have a problem with that, you are being "selfish" and "viewing them as competition".... may I suggest a remedial course in basic logic?

If you truly ran an “entertainment” company as your tagline suggests you’d understand the importance of networking and relationships. Being selfish and cutthroat can sometimes be your worst attributes as a business owner/entrepreneur. Helping other people out doesn’t necessarily mean you’re giving them the keys to your business or livelihood. In fact, it can open many doors to other business opportunities or future collaborations.

People that can't contribute to thier own sustainability, seperate from the commercial life we all have to live. I settles on a pandemic in my head... with in a couple months we were finally told what was going on....honestly the timing of my thoughts frighten me... but I took my own reason for thinking we needed this pandemic. I used my unemployment to buy a 5th wheel, I used my ssi when I was approved to buy livestock... goats sheep, turkey, chicken... currently. Going to work on rabbit, and quail as food sources as well. If selling to a restaurant everything needs to be restaurant grade. There are also requirements for being a wholesaler that many state cottage laws allow you get around if selling on your property or at a farmers market. Since differing states and municipalities have different requirements you may need to meet with an attorney to sort it all out. You may also find that there is a gap between what you can do by yourself and where you need to be to have a similarly profitable commercial operation.
@ronyahardesty8789
@ronyahardesty8789 2 жыл бұрын
First growing microgreens are not sprouts because they are cut, so mainly you need to have clean trays, clean sanitation processes, a sink nearby. Every state has different listed protocols-for KS this is on the KState page, maybe check your local jurisdiction rules. Just like owning a food truck or something should you go big. But you do not have to treat this as a food handlers situation if you sell roadside or at a farmers market in Kansas. When you are selling small scale such as to a farm and art market you can bake your own cookies in a kitchen which isn't even certified as a bakery, but you are supposed to have directions labeled as to what the product is, whether it was washed. Rules mainly apply to commercial growers and when growing and selling to a grocery store or a restaurant. I would cross that bridge once you are a successful grower. Many growers not only grow microgreens but other veggies or flowers, so you do not have to concentrate solely on edibles, this is completely agricultural, yes its edible. It should be free from mold, animal or bugs/bacteria, but again, it is cut from the roots, so it should be free from those things, especially if you are following this business model. Grow indoors under grow lights and it will be relatively sanitary, otherwise to grow outdoors you will need to use greenhouse/shade cloth.

When I harvest I immediately put my product in clamshells and into cold storage. It does condensate but it only rests on the plastic for an hour or so, I have microgreens in my fridge at home right now that I harvested 27 days ago and they just stopped being crunchy. I do wonder if chilling them before putting them in clamshells first might produce a longer lasting product.

Interesting. I just heard about microgreens and how people are making a lot of money. What about food safety though? Do you need to be certified and licensed to sell the public?

This has been an amazing eye opener for me. I've been #tuned in since 2017 on my personal channel and even my gaming channel and now I've been inspired to start my own agricultural business and homestead and listen to you to flee NYC. I have no regrets! I signed up for the courses as I build my property up. #Thankyoufortheinformation I would still be a slave worker in the biggest city in the world if you haven't confirmed what was already in my heart and soul screaming to get out. #Keepupthegreatwork I hope to be one of your #successstories #growing #microgreens and #sustaining my #family one day. #Cheers @UrbanFarmerCurtisStone

It really just sounds like efficient restaurant prep except you grow your own food. Amazing stuff and really pretty simple if you think about it. It’s a straight line from seed to door.

Interesting information. I have one question. If you deliver to someone at let’s say 8am and they get at hone at 5 pm from work, how do the micro greens survive being in a mailbox for 9 hours when it’s either below zero during winter or scorching hot during the summer?

Direct to consumer is easier said than done. My restaurant orders were several hundred dollars with one quick stop a week. Seems like it will take me a ton of customers to equal just one restaurant client.
