🥳 We finally launched our Patreon where you can look forward to full interviews, exclusive content and behind the scenes, or just to show your support.
Maria's sincere love of food led her on a journey around the world. She returned to her homeland, South Africa, to start her own micro dairy using the principle of Slow Food and humane treatment of her dairy herd. She only milks her cows once a day, and keep the calves with their mothers. We were inspired by her love of making quality products, not only does she treat her animals with love and care, she puts in the extra effort to make quality food, the traditional way. Healthy Cows Mean Healthy People!

Please make more videos! I love what you guys are doing. I think South Africa has so many small interesting biodynamic projects dotted around that we have yet to hear about.

You are a breath of pure joy, please don’t wilt, please do some succession planning, people like you are the real hope, you THINK. The economy didn’t “open up”, the Capitalists determined to grind out the small operators. In Australia, the Regulations wouldn’t allow a micr-dairy to be economically viable. I saw a “system” in France that used way etc to feed to fowl and cheese and fowl were their income.

Love love love. Thank you for what you are doing. I’m a small scale vegetable producer following organic and recently biodynamic practices.

I am an Australian woman living in Tasmania the smallest state.. I really respect what you are doing, especially retaining the animals' horns for sound reasons. And most particularly keeping the cows with their calves and generally respecting your animals. I do not drink dairy products as I am horrified by the dairy industry generally. I use nut milks and coconut yoghurt. I am stopping eating of cows' cheese now. Best wishes and thank you for showing how your farm works.

Interesting information about horns regulating body temperatures. Cows with horns can be very dangerous though. Even if a cow ain’t mean, they can “playfully” butt you with their head and severely gore you! In the old days, some farmers would attach a small ball to the tips of each horn.

Wow. Who ever thought living "Natural" would be considered a "thing" from the "past". We are so disconnected.

It challenges consumer norms. I don't know anyone wanting to milk their own cow. Good luck. Stay safe.

I agree and admire most of what she said, but the horn thing is nonsense. Dehorning cows is a safe practice, for them and for us, and it doesn't play that huge role in milk quality, no matter what those studies say.

Thanks for your comment. As filmmakers, we aim to showcase farmers who stray from the conventional ways of farming, and dehorning is just one of many conventional practices that may or may not be beneficial. I think at the end of the day it's up to each farmer to assess the risks with their team and proceed accordingly.
