what I think is the most funny is how she's like "English is not my first language!" at a *Swedish guy* in her "I'm a victim" essay and honestly it's very weird how no one ever pointed out that fact (to my knowledge)
@jacobportman52613 жыл бұрын
I mean,learning English is pretty important in Sweden so it isn’t really a fair comparison,like taking a European kid that speaks Spanish Portuguese and English and an American kid who only knows English.not all school systems prioritize the same things.

@dma93-ch3 жыл бұрын
@@jacobportman5261 someone can be better at a language in a few years than someone who've lived in said language for 30 years. Someone can be better at their own language than someone else. Someone can be better at their second language than a native of that language. Someone can go through 10 years of compulsory English classes and be functionally illiterate in it. I don't care. It's just another one of the excuses she's making to avoid owning up to it. She's the one who chose to work in English in the public eye, so if her skills are not up to par, it's on her.
@jacobportman52613 жыл бұрын
@@dma93-ch yeah,I’m just saying its stupid to try to compare the two.anyone can hire a translator or put in effort into a language and its shitty to hide behind non fluency to avoid owning up to your mistakes.but saying that a Swedish guy can speak perfect English why can’t she is a stupid comparison.

I'm not a PETA fan by any means, but look at all the court cases they won against massive organizations. They've done more good than just this one time, but it's not newsworthy or as dramatic as dragging them through the mud. They're definitely controversial, but I think that has a lot more to do with the narrative spun by the media. For me, it's easier to just question everything I'm shown or told, and come to my own conclusions. But yeah props to PETA and SPCA for reporting her. HAVE YOU BEEN DRIVEN YET?!?! middle of a video and they just hamfist some irrelevant bullshit ad in there with no consideration to the viewer at all.
@flower.twilight5 жыл бұрын
I mean, others don't do this because they want people to watch it. If you throw it during a transition, someone might leave because they feel content with the video already. This works especially well with TRO because you need to watch the full video to feel content. Besides that, TRO builds suspense and tension, so it feels rewarding to finish a video. TRO doesn't clickbait to get dumb viewers. He builds his credibility very well and people WANT to watch his videos instead of being baited into watching it.

Absolutely! He is a perfect example of advertising placement done right! I remember people like the Nostalgia Critic used to do it, but at this point they've given up (or at least, last time I watched them like 2 years ago). Yet TRO is still going strong and it's an amazing thing!

An hour later Peta tweeted about the incident, calling for the removal of Alinity Divine from Twitch and then they made a public statement that they support the SPCA investigation. The Saskatoon SPCA had announced that its animal protection department was currently conducting a formal investigation, so Peta didn't have much left to do by the time they caught the tweet storm, other than supporting the case & also calling for Twitch to ban her.

Fun English Fact! The word "kindness" used to be mostly used to describe similarity (eg. "all the same kind of ..." ). It always used to baffle me why, in Taming of the Shrew, Petruchio promises to "kill [Katherina] with kindness," and then is completely nasty to her. In its original context, "Kill with kindness" was much closer to our sentiment of "Beat Them at their Own Game." Funnily enough, as our definition of the word "kind" has evolved to describe benevolent actions and nice deeds, the phrase "Kill with Kindness" now means nearly the exact opposite of what it meant in Shakespeare's day.

"Cats jump off stuff 3 times as high..." Yeah...as in they CHOOSE to jump off those things and subsequently prepare their muscles and sight a safe, level landing site. You take away the animal's ability to choose to be in the air and subsequently it's natural ability to fall from height by abusing its trust. The Cat wouldn't have expected its owner to arbitrarily hoist it into the air, making it all the more traumatic for the animal. I've owned cats that actually enjoy being thrown a little onto the bed or couch and will avidly return to the human doing it for more, but the cat is aware of what is happening.

@brianbethea30695 жыл бұрын
"You take away the animal's ability to choose to be in the air and subsequently it's natural ability to fall from height by abusing its trust." No.... No you don't... Cats' instinct to twist their body when airborne in order to land on their paws is very strong and their reaction time is incredibly quick. If your cat is airborne, it's going to be ready to land on its paws within a split second. And it's not going to be permanently traumatized by being tossed once. Yeah, probably don't throw your cat over your head, yeah, it's a shit thing to do, but also Leon Lush is right. Calling this behavior despicable and treating her as though she's a serial abuser to her pets is definitely a disproportionate reaction and de-legitimizes accusations of people who ARE serial animal abusers.
@apophisgaming49645 жыл бұрын
Brian Bethea Landing on its paws is all well and good, but it still requires time to pick where to land and prepare its muscles to absorb the impact of the landing. Granted, the feline instinctively contorts itself midair to achieve appropriate orientation to land, but other aspects require the animal to focus and make decisions. It has been proven that cats do far better with additional time mid-air to accommodate this. Not only do they have more time to right themselves, but they can prepare their body to make safe contact with a landing spot whilst cushioning their fall. I just asked my partner, a captive and domestic animal expert and she confirmed this for me. They will right themselves quick-smart, but require additional preparation time to land in the most efficient way possible; preperation which is not applicable when the cat is being hoisted, out of the blue, into the air unexpectedly by their owner. I dunno where you got the idea I was decrying her as a 'serial' abuser. My point was about the animal in general, not the owner specifically or how I felt about her actions. Comes across as a bit of a Strawman. You don't have to tell me about animal abuse. I have enough rescues temporarily housed here that I've experienced both ends of the spectrum firsthand...and I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Merely that there is more to the whole "cats always land on their feet" idiom than is commonly accepted.

@Crucibelle My current theory regarding this is that most women have never experienced true hardship/deprivation. They have never had things go wrong, and were never taught by their parents how to deal with life when nothing goes their way. They were always told they could succeed at anything they tried, and due to the current sociopolitical climate, were often given a pass/extra help when things got even a little bit difficult. In short, they have never been taught/experienced that: "it is possible to do everything right, and yet still lose". I will be eternally grateful that my own mother never grew up that way, and that she and my father taught my brother and I resilience.

@@UnitZER0 You realise that women form half of the world's population? Tell that theory to struggling single mothers, women of colour, women struggling at school. Women are people who have different lives, experiences, and ways of dealing with things just as males do. What you're describing could apply to both men and women and sounds more like you're describing a generation [Millennials]. I don't know why you seem to think that things never go wrong for women, that we're handed everything on a plate, are incapable of facing hardship with resilience or even experiencing hardship at all. Frankly, it's sexist and wholly inaccurate. Women aren't some homogenic aliens.
@UnitZER05 жыл бұрын
@@msjadedoom I am well aware that approximately 50% of the world's population is comprised of women. And, to be fair, you do raise some valid points. However, you seem to have missed the point. I was describing the women of this current generation. Specifically, the women in the "first world" and parts of the "second world", who are certainly coddled, and given unearned opportunities in many cases. This should in no way be taken as a blanket statement, but does describe a statistically significant portion of the female population. (Truthfully, due to some of the profound differences between men and women, when dealing with women it's almost easier to think of them as a wholly separate species)
