In Kenya news, Food4Education founder Wawire Njiru sat down with NowThis News to talk about how she's fighting hunger in the East Africa nation.
Wawira Njiru, Founder, Food4Education There is a big discrepancy for kids who don't have the right nutrition. So this kids go through a process called stunting where they have lower IQ or shorter for their age and this is an irreversible thing [...] In Kenya, one in four kids is stunted because of that. So that is, for me, an injustice.
Njiru, who was born and raised in Kenya, saw children around her go hungry at school. She moved to Australia to get her degree in nutrition. before returning to Kenya in 2012 and starting Food4Education. The organization provides subsidized meals to kids across Kenya. Njiru says the meals provide more than 40% of the recommended nutritional daily value for children.
An estimated 3.4 million Kenyans are severely food insecure, meaning they can’t count on getting enough or any food each day. Hunger at school has been linked to lower grades and absenteeism.
Funding comes from parents’ contributions of 15 cents per meal as well as grants from foundations like Global Citizen, which awarded Njiru the 2018 Cisco Youth Leadership prize. The $250,000 grant allowed her to incorporate technology like wristbands that take the place of cash payments.

There is no comparison, Wawira does not look like Lupita. Wawira feeds 10,000 children daily. Lupita is a global ambassador for elephants. Being a spokesperson for elephants is good but elephants seem to be able to feed themselves. So far Lupita has amassed 8 million in wealth but hasn't given back in either Kenya or Mexico, the countries of her dual citizenship.

I saw an article where the founder of Home Depot plans to give away 90% of his wealth before his death; I would suggest he will more efficiently disperse his wealth than the bloated bureaucracy of the Federal Government.
