I stumbled across this album this morning and I about died when I realized they were re-recorded and it was amazing. Hearing that they put Horizon's West on hold for this is even more amazing for some reason. lol I'm happy they went about doing it and made the changes they did. It sounds great!

Illusion Of Safety is my fav Thrice record, this is 2nd, Vhuissei 3rd, etc...I named my only son Dustin because of how impactful these guys were on me at the time. Its amazing its still all the same members and it shows. Thanks for this, nice to see inside opinion on this record. They did better with the remake of this than I expected, even tho they are still just AMAZING, I just mean to recreate that record seems like a near impossible task, and they did well with it. NGL, I love the original the most, but half of thats just cuz its tied to a time in my life and TBH, I miss the old major label $$ spent on GOOD full sounding records, with strings added etc. That being said, I also like dingier, dirtier records preferably over more polished ones, depends on the band. Like you could have never had Minor Threat re record Out Of step EP, or ANYTHING they did or Fugazi and do it in a big studio and have it all super clean sounding and it come out good. It would ruin the feel and ferocity those old records had, even tho the Minor Threat stuff had really substandard recordings, the band was SO GOOD it didnt matter. It fit their aesthetic, so to speak.

Instrument sound mix might be slightly better now, but definitely vocals were better in the original version. Identity Crisis is a top 10 punk album for me.

Just stumbled across this revisited version and oh my lord! Y’all turned a masterpiece into an even larger masterpiece. Not many bands can do that. Very impressed with it. You’re on repeat the next couple months.

It is like all new songs. But you can sing along from the get go. It's awesome. It's all the songs re-written with their music theory they have now.
