Good morning Zach. This is the one thing that has confused me for years in the golf swing. In this video keeping the wrists in the dead hand position is how Tiger seems to swing the club. When watching your video from 11 years ago "Bent right wrist for more compression" seems to be the opposite of this video. How do you keep minimal wrist movement using hack motion but still bend the right wrist back for more compression? Are there two different philosophies or am i missing something. Thanks!

9:20 I agree but interestingly if you watch every tour player swing they are keeping that clubface more shut and square which is contrary to the purple rotation indicator right?

Can a mid handicapper gain from the Hack Motion, or do you still need a pro analysing the results? Keep putting off buying one

My graph shows my impact occurs during a lead wrist flexion, unlike pros graphs show impact at the bottom of the flexion. What is causing my lead wrist to be in flexion even after the impact?
@ZachAllenGolf10 ай бұрын
Try hitting some small low shots and see if you can get the graph to change. Once your hands have that feeling, begin to lengthen the swing out.

Super-insightful use of technology to help explain wrist angle evolution throughout the golf swing. You explanations are always so well delivered, and accompanied by useful drills. Thanks for sharing!

Curious - Did Tiger let hack motion use his pattern or is this a best guess estimate of his motion…????
@SDK864 Жыл бұрын
It’s not explicitly labelled at ‘Tiger’s’ swing data or ‘DJ’s’ swing data inside Hack. This video is misleading for suggesting this. There are some tour pro’s wrist data in the app. But not the 🐐

Wrist rotation and forearm rotation are the same thing. It’s physically impossible to rotate one without the other. The only thing your wrist can do independent of the forearm is tilt towards and away from the direction of the thumb and “flex” away from the palm (like you would do to push a door open with your palm) and “bow” towards the palm. If rotating the forearm is a better feel, then use that feel. Just know that rotating your forearm “down” and rotating your wrist “down” are the same thing (not to be confused with bowing). Essentially what I’m saying is: “Rotating your forearm and bowing your wrist” is synonymous with “rotating your wrist and bowing it.”

Nice video lesson. I think another amateur error tendency is using the shoulders/upper torso in an attempt to get the forearms/shaft to rotate thru impact. Not a pretty result. Takes work to isolate the forearms if someone hasn't been doing it.
@ZachAllenGolf Жыл бұрын
Wow great point, didn’t really me ruin it much but you want to make sure the majority of the rotation come from the forearm. Not the shoulder joint, and not from the back.

I found if I pull my right wrist in the backswing and my left wrist in the downswing, I get the right swing arc, weight shift, and release. I used to struggle staying in sync by just turning my shoulders and core in the backswing and hips in the downswing. I found it is necessary to swing the handle to feel the weight of the club, Don't know if that is consistent with your technique but it works for me.

9:28 BRACE AND STABILIZE AT IMPACT? Do you mean that you're suddenly tensing your muscles at the moment of impact?
@ZachAllenGolf Жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. Sounds strange but we are not relaxing and letting it go. But be careful it’s only very specific muscles.
@Yukoner77777 Жыл бұрын
@@ZachAllenGolf So is that tensing done to suddenly decelerate the body in order to get the sort of whip cracking effect/ faster club head speed? Or are you meaning to tense the arms?

I have the Hack Motion but do not have the instructor's module. This video helps me to understand what I am trying to do with it. I kept trying to get flexed at the top but was getting frustrated. Now I have a better idea of what I am trying to do with the info it provides. Thanks!
@ZachAllenGolf Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it, the flexed at the top pattern can work for certain people, but it’s rare. You might have trying to incorporate a wrist pattern that was not natural for you.

I bought it. Love the concept and the tool itself. Except for one thing. I could never, after 5 sessions and 100 balls and endless efforts to get my wrists into an "acceptable" position at the top, I was unable to do so consistently...I always have a little extension. And at impact, I'm fine, with a nice flexion. So, frustrated, I went to course with my old simple approach...backswing, rotate, downswing, impact, rotate. Hit the ball fine. Am I the only one who finds this approach ineffective? I'd love to know.
@alvarojervis1660 Жыл бұрын
Realistically it takes pros many years to perfect these positions. I’m sure you are in the right track. Just gotta keep at it
@marksellergren9055 Жыл бұрын
Great, after playing for 64 years, maybe I can get my flat wrist at the top, finally. Nah, I will work with my slight extension at the top, ala Jack.
@azcharlie2009 Жыл бұрын
I don't know... I think most amateurs rotate their forearms and wrist too much. They stop turning, and just use their arms. I would recommend most amateurs rotate the club closed on the back swing, which will force them to turn back more. Then, continue to rotate the club closed on the downswing.
@greghill5183 Жыл бұрын
Great video, Zach! Thanks! I hit it so much better simply rotating my left forearm. I am way too inconsistent using my previous early wrist set.

Yes, once I put on the sensor and compared myself to Tigers wrist pattern, I was shocked at how little he was cocking his wrists in the backswing.

Great video. I got myself lost for a year or so trying the keep the face looking at the ball through out the backswing. Good stuff keep them coming.

Great point, this is something that seems so correct, but ends up affecting how the wrists work later in the swing.

I'm surprised that the pros aren't more in flexion
@ZachAllenGolf Жыл бұрын
The majority only occurs at impact. And once someone gets to flexion early, it doesn’t get back there at impact.
@derekcarday Жыл бұрын
@@ZachAllenGolf I've always wondered that Zach cuz I tend to go into flexion at impact when playing better. What causes the bowed look then from so many tour pros? Is it a bit of an illusion?

Some tour players have the leading edge of club matching the spine angle downline at the hip high area of the backswing, and it seems like less have it rotated to toe up. Does the Hack Motion data have stats on how many, or what the majority do? Recently the first drill (arm pivoting from the shoulder) you gave has been termed the look cool drill. 😉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKHam6WNjb54jrs You said Tiger Woods far too many times for my taste in this video.🤮
@ZachAllenGolf Жыл бұрын
There definitely is some forearm rotation in the early stages, it doesn’t mean that the club should be able exactly toe up, it can be slightly toe down. It would be really helpful for all to see their wrist data, however I know that’s not possible, but what people feel and what they are really doing often don’t line up.
