For $8, you can buy a regular tripod mount for the GoPro. So that's attached to the waterproof case, and I use a 1/4" screw through the PVC cap to secure the camera to the rig.
@indymogul
@indymogul 12 жыл бұрын
I'm actually glad it fell, because that was a lot of force, and instead of breaking the PVC or the camera itself, the removable cap dissipated the force.

LOL. Yeah, I know how to shoot first-person-POV shot. And third-person-over-the-shoulder. But how do we shoot second-person?!
@veronder
@veronder 4 жыл бұрын
Lol I'm actually working on that right now for my first video on my channel Twisted Hair Survival. You film in the third person without the person in frame while being in frame in the second person filming POV, you have to use a plane of glass in front of each camera at distance you want the second person view from to which is stitched into 360 view. Have to film each shot 3 times, glass plane to "hologram" the viewer into the shot to be in the second person, so when they move thier device (360° function) they'll look around thier own space with what is ti be viewed around them...... In short, to shoot in the second person requires reverse augmentation.
@veronder
@veronder 4 жыл бұрын
To film in third person without being in frame would be to wear your device backwards (on the chest w/ camera aimed foward) must film ones actions in reverse order to have proper gaunt between the camera operator and distance what will be the second person angle (360). Film sequence 1^^^^ One could film the second sequence during the first though it might be particular hard to hide the camera operator of the POV, otherwise the second sequence is filmed directly after the reverse action of the first sequence. The Third sequence is capturing the 360° video. Currently their isn't any programming to support the insertion of the second person in film in real time of film action To be as though they are there but through some clever editing and filming.....

Yeah, it's funny-if I use FCPX stabilizer to remove the shake, it stabilizes the world around, but suddenly my body jerks everywhere, making it even more disorienting. I tried to make the camera close enough to reach, but I couldn't. I always had to remove the rig or have a friend help me.

I would think a strong enough wave could knock the camera off. I've thought about running a cord from the camera to my wrist or waist in case it falls off. GoPro also makes a bright red floatation device ($15) for the camera so it's harder to lose in the water.

hi, im no pro, but i'd suggest sanding down the threads? just get a pipe that fits in loose and put some sandpaper on that, then just twist it until the thread is sanded down enough to fit the other pipe in? you should be able to find some unthreaded ones but just try with the ones you have for now. im saying sand down instead of cut, because sanding only takes off the slightest bits of plastic, dont want to cut loads off!

I find it really interesting that the view of the person's head stabilizes your sense of balance, even though a conventional approach to cam stabilization is not used. Great idea, I'm going to give it a try. Did you find that it is hard to reach the cam without removing your coat each time?

I'm working on one of these right now with a few tweeks. I put a threaded coupling at the top so I could screw on the cap without worrying it would fall off like in the video. For the straps I am using nylon webbing using fasteners and three buckles so I can adjust it and not have to do any stitching.

Just finished my build of this rig and found a couple short cuts. Instead of using elbows, you can use tee connectors so that you can just string the waist and shoulder straps through the rig's frame and getting a better fit from all the straps! I used the elbows and drilled holes into them after the fact. But I'll get a walk through up on my channel soon!

Awesome, I did something similar at comic con in san diego last year with a telescoping selfie stick popping through the zippers of my backpack with a samsung gear 360 camera on it as I electric skateboarded near all the cosplayers in line at the convention center. I want to make this project or buy a dirt cheap manufactured version and do a race like that too, but the samsung gear will need a waterproof case.

I have my rig all made and just now installed my Go Pro. I just need help with figuring out how to install the straps to position it on my back. Also is the camera right behind but above your head or is it off to the side like over your shoulder? Mine appears to be behind but over my head. I will know for sure where it is when I mount the straps and actually wear the rig. I will be glueing it together today hopefully.

for those too lazy/don't have access to make the build, this same effect can easily be achieved with Cowboy Studio's Shoulder rig (30$ or less on amazon). mount the shoulder rig backwards and configure the extension pieces to achieve the effect in this video, or wear the brace normally and flip the camera backwards to achieve the 'snorricam' effect. i havn't tried it with a gopro, but i imagine it would work better than my t2i because it's lighter and a wider angle.

I wonder how it would be, if we were to get our eyes covered by something with a screen that shows what the camera views... In other words, moving in the real word, but in 3rd person view... Also, a head lever-thing connected to the camera would be needed, to move the view around, in addition to your design (but would need to be farther from the body)

Using the instructables link in the video description as a guide, it took me about 30 minutes to buy everything at Home Depot (spend the extra $12 for a hand held PVC Cutter, totally worth it) about 30 minutes to cut the pieces with the PVC cutter, and about 30 minutes to assemble the first run at it. Factor in any time you might need for testing and adjustments, plus time for the cement to set once you put it all together, and my guess is maybe a around 5-6 hours total.

I made on of these for an event like this using your video. Am up to version 3 now and have made one which can be used while wearing a back pack. I also use screw in fittings for the camera mount exrensions, which is allowimg me to adjuat the height and position of the camera. I just wish it was as cheap in new zealand as it is in america. Have spent on average $100 each mount. Still its well worth it for the added camera angle. Thanks

Nice rig! I kind of knew it would be hard to make something like that on a helmet (as I said on the other video), but this is cool. I'd only add to glue some pvc pipe to the end cap so it's not that short and thus harder for any impact to take the camera off or, instead, grab the camera with another "buckle strap" long enough to make it easy to manage, but not too much so the camera might hit the ground, which is not the problem as much as losing it if nobody else notices it. Good work!

It depends on what you are shooting, the gopro only has different angles of view based on the resolution that you use. there is no zooming in or out. While I agree the durability of the GoPro makes it very useful, watching twenty videos with those same angles of view will become noticeable after a while.
