2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Instrument Cluster Bulbs Replacement : Can you make it anymore harder?
Message to PT Cruiser Owners: I fell bad that you have to deal with stuff like this on a daily basis. The car has good value in Rjeff's opinion, but the engineering is terrible!!
We didn't even bother putting any background music anymore. because we want you to focus on the task at hand and not be distracted.
We really hope this video helps other owners out there. Really. As we are almost out of patience on fixing this car.
Lesson: Make simple task, simple. But for PT Cruisers, everything has to be complicated...

I would disconnect the negative battery cable before doing this task. Especially important to temporarily disable the airbag because it could cause injury if it gets bumped and deployed. HowtoHelen knows his stuff. This was an exercise that tested patience.

Tbh, LED bulbs work fine. Just replaced my bulbs on my 04 PT. It's all about the LED design that you install. Also, I hear saying 'This is a terrible design' in the video. This only counts if you try to take a shortcut to not just remove the entire upper dash. Those locking tabs on the upper panel willbe bent or broken, no longer securing the upper panel without gaps. If you do it right, the upper panel slides out towards you without using a tool. Never pry that sunbaked brittle plastic up, it can easily break or crack. The faciaplate on the instrument cluster clicks out using just your fingers, no tools scratching anything, like in this video..

Hello. I don’t mean that the design in general is terrible. But they could have made it a bit easier to access the cluster to replace the bulbs. Compare to other vehicles, this was a bit of a chore. Other vehicles, 2 screws to remove for the cluster faceplate, and you get easy access to the cluster screws. Overall, its still a great all around vehicle. And if you saw our other videos, it shows how much love we put into this PT. Anyway, thanks for your honest and constructive feedback! Its always nice to have positive conversation with others. @@How2Helen true, however if you take the right steps, then within 1 hour you can replace and test bulbs, including removing panels end screws and reinstalling them. If you take things apart half way, it gets double as difficult as necessary.

Would you have more specifications (Wattage, etc.) for this bulb? I live overseas where one cannot find a "Bosh Long Life 74! bulb (may exist with a different part number???)
