I want to change the oil in my 2020 GMC Terrain Denali 2.0, but I've already seen some videos where they put 4.7 L of oil like you did in the video and I've also seen others where they put 5.7 L like it says in the manual, so I don't know which of the two measurements to put. I need help 😮😅

No need for using clean oil on oil filter gasket … all you need is 1-2 dripps of old oil and that’s it .. it’s not going to go inside of engine and for some Miracle If did go an inside of engine there is still bunch old oil inside .. 1-2 drops won’t make a difference trust me I know what I’m doing

New oil filter and clean new gasket. I’ll use clean on clean. I also have changed oil and know what I’m doing too👍

@@wadewacker7276 totally agree, great video!! Clean on clean though. I've worked on vehicles over 40 yrs and 10 of those at the dragstrip and if the owner caught me using old oil on a gasket on his dragsters or his mod he'd have ripped me a new one and I've always held my work to that kind of standard for the simple fact if anyone asks, I can honestly say I did my best. That oils already toast and has contaminants ( tiny metal shavings like all old oil does) and as it heats up especially here in Texas its just not optimal. Seal has to last and as most oils in newer cars are the better synthetics made to go further than old school oil, you know its gonna need to last longer under more heat. Also, its not mentioned but, this oil you're draining is either really, really cooked or you heated the engine 1st. Always a good idea, didn't see it in the notes but, even a newbie should have complete info. On a side note, I always find the direction the drain flows too and jack appropriately so if any shavings are present in the pan they wash into the catch and are easily spotted, never truly know what's happening in a motor short of removing the pan but, you can always advise folks as well to rub some old oil when its almost drained between clean fingers and feel for any grit. Better safe than sorry. I do that on all my vehicles, especially the higher mileage ones. I really appreciate this video being up, it tells me all tools I need and shows the service points and now that I'm disabled that saves me time in the Texas heat and thats priceless!! 0W-20 Full Synthetic 4.2 Quarts ( honestly it depends on your budget as for oil brands, there is lots of good oil brands out there whatever works for your budget, mobil1,castrol,valvoline,etc all good )

Nope ...it don’t matter really ,a bit of oil stays on oil filter gasket , it doesn’t go inside of engine

If you have a vertically mounted oil filter then yes it’s a good idea to pour fresh oil in before installing and if it’s horizontally mounted pour a little less oil in and let the element wick it up a little before installing👍 Bro it’s better for initial start up weather the vehicles were from the dawn of time to today 😂 just saying……….

Keep in mind GMC decided to put a stupid ass bar in the way of the drain plug so you can't use a socket to do this. You have to use a wrench as shown.

Never use dirty oil to lubricate the new filter. Take your new oil jug, break the seal, put the cap back on, tip the jug upside down, then use the oil collected on the underside of the cap.

Why? The oil lubricating the rubber seal never sees the inside of the filter so there’s no harm in using old oil. And besides, it’s such a small amount (we’re talking fractions of an ounce) that even if a tiny bit did seep in it’d hardly affect the lubrication of the engine.
