Eggaming2 I recommend you guys to build your own jump with a soft landing. Then you’ll feel confident to commit the 360. If you want to grind rails, I suggest to start with PVC rails bc metal is very slippery.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks. Landed my first 360 ever today at age 38 and I've been trying since I was a kid. The biggest thing I was missing was keeping the hands out in front before the takeoff - I was going off a huge Big Air jump at a legit terrain park and the jump naturally sends you into a backflip it's so steep so keeping the hands forward until you're in the air helped me avoid the back seat landing. I went every day this week and must have attempted it 60+ times before landing but your video unlocked it for me!

After lots of trial and error I eventually found that looking at the horizon instead of my skis fixed my accidental corks and backseat landings. No other video I've seen mentions this! Also, making the 360 a quick two step process of 1. pop straight up and 2. start rotating, instead of both at the same time really helped
@lolzpof7 жыл бұрын
Also don't forget about your outside arm, that would get left behind my body in my rotations a lot without me noticing

Hands down the best 360 tutorial anywhere online right now. Anyone trying to learn to 3 for the first time should watch this 10 times before going out and trying, then 10 more times after that, and before long you're tossing 3s in the Japanese Backcountry like Pollard
@StompItTutorials7 жыл бұрын
Haha thank you for the kind words :)
@happygnomev25764 жыл бұрын
If anyone is till stuck on the 360, I may have some helpful advice! -1.) Don't overthink the 3. Chances are your going to have more than enough air to pull it around, so don't worry! Its better to set slower with great technique and get away with a 270 than it is to pull a quick shit one as demonstrated and land backseat, trust me, the habit will stick :( -2.) Think of it as an over-rotated 180. Sounds foolish but it really emphasizes you to keep your body level, and your head looking straight. This works because you have to land level to the slope (which isn't difficult) to ski away backwards on a 180 without tumbling.

So happy to have found your videos. I learned through trial and error with lots of bad habits (looking down at takeoff and landing backseat for yeeeeears). Going to use these videos to teach my kids without so many errors. Also, I started learning with left hand mute grabs on left spin 3s which I gather is also harder than grab with right and spin left? Anyway. Thank you!

In gymnastics we have a saying you go where your head goes or you look. If you set a front tuck looking down you'll never gain height. It's amazing how much the ~12;bs of the head messes with the axis of rotation for the whole body.

Great video once again :) I would insist on the fact that putting a lot of shin pressure is key to avoid to land back seated. Not always easy to do, specially on shitty backcountry in runs or steep transitions. Also, what helped me a lot to get my 360 clean is to look below my armpit instead of above my shoulder. We can see it in the video at 6min20 and the next jump.
@joost6017 жыл бұрын
Nice extra tips! I'm still a beginner, but i've done a lot of 360's. I think looking below my armpit is good when your doing bigger jumps not with the real small ones, right?

I think that my way of learning this wasn't too great... I weren't even able to do 180°s. I just headed straight to a small park jump, closed my eyes and tried to spin it. After some crashes I managed to land it. Then after an hour of practising I were able to pop it 50% of the time. Now is time to see better way to learn it to teach it to my friends :D

My problem when I was first learning 360's was that I couldn't commit mentally and kept stopping at 180. What helped were 2 things: 1) focusing more on the pop and floating the rotation rather than trying to just whip it around, and 2) having someone standing down past the landing who would wave their arms in the air as soon as I started my 360 so as to make an easy visual target to spot the landing. Without the person there to wave their arms, it can be hard to find your landing in the blur of the rotation. Then once you get past the fear of commitment you no longer need someone there to look for. I did my first 3's back in the '90's with the help of Trennon Paynter who now coaches the Canadian freestyle team.

For me it's all about keeping the core tension while creating stable momentum with the shoulders until the moment that I do land and stabilize. It's much easier to progress to 540s with balance from feel instead of sight. Try to do the 360 with and without core tension and notice the difference. Some days I have no balance and then I focus on tension and the balance returns.
