Enjoying lesson thus far. Noted that this is an older version than currently using. First noted that at about 11:50 the circle could never find the tangent of the larger diameter circle that is on the top, just the smaller one. So I have to find a way to make the image transparent so it will see the larger circle... back later... Found fix. Go to the Profile Name in the top right corner of the Fusion 360 user interface. 1) Select Preferences. 2) Select Design. 3) Enable the following option: Auto project edges on reference. Thanks for the lesson! On I go....

For anyone else also on the new UI who's stuck on creating the 2-point rectangle: if you hit Create Sketch and select the bottom plane, an additional Sketch tab will pop up along the top (next to Sheet Metal, Tools etc) which will let you select the rectangles and other shapes. I did hit a minor snag when sketching the circle from the construction line - I could snap the tangent to one circle (the bottom-left one) but not the top-right one like you showed. I realise this makes literally no difference in dimensions, it just bugs me a little. Great tutorial so far, especially as someone who was deeply frustrated by a bad introduction class to SolidWorks. Will definitely be checking out the rest of the series! The only change I'd suggest is highlighting the numbers (for dimensions, pattern repeats etc) in bigger font/popup boxes like you did with the tool keyboard shortcuts, which would be handy especially for those of us with limited screen real estate.

Great job! Overall the Lego brick video was a success for me. I think some expect you to retain the data without practice and that's just not practical. I watched a few times pausing between steps and then did a few on my own reverting to certain steps when stuck or thought my computer was messing up :)(always operator error) Overall, within 1 hr of combined video and practice with no video, I can draw the Lego confidently. Looking forward to the next videos as the pace is just right was well. My background is of a mechanical engineer and some 2d drafting. I have viewed and worked with 3d prints just never drafted any in 3D. It takes time to learn 3D for sure and find this to be one of the best learning series so far. Thank you!! Constructive feedback - It would be nice to understand why we select certain steps. Some are obvious of course (like "extrude") but an example would be when we need to select a "new sketch" to make bottom 3 tubes. Why a new sketch? The bumps on top didn't require this. For others - There is a guy named Lars Christensen who does Fusion 360 videos that are also good. He does go into much of this type of basic understanding, however, it can be long and drawn out.ALL good stuff!! Thank you to ALL!

Hey Kevin, thanks for the great tutorial. I was curious whether its possible to use the pattern and distribute evenly instead of having to key in specific values for the intervals. I like to design in the software I'm using and sometimes I'm not sure what those values are before hand.

Tried to get the tangent circle to appear for a couple of hours then checked the comments section. A quick tick of a box in 'preferences' and all made sense. This was my first use of Fusion 360 and your video was a great help.....many thanks.

You are the best step by step trainer on You tube. I can follow what you are teaching and you dont make the mistake all the other video trainers make you dont assume a beginner knows anything. This makes your videos the very best I have found to start learning hiw to use my new CNC router from scratch. Awesome work well done and thank you!!!!!!

So glad I found your channel! Thank you for making such great and nonsense tutorials! The only they I would have suggested is, it would have been nice to have you explain the process you went through for getting all your dimension. perhaps you just used a digital caliper but it would have been cool to see the process. Thank you so much again!

Any time I find a fusion course on youtube and Kevin's voice comes up, I know it's going to be good! Suggestion: I think an overview on different terminology and what they are used for would be good. Bodies, sketches, features, face, mesh, edge, etc.

Thanks so much for such a thorough tutorial! I got it done without trouble, although I noticed that in the early part of the tutorial, it shows your preferences as "Y is up" and in the attached comments, it shows it as "Z is up." It didn't seem to have any affect on the drawing. Thanks again, I'll tackle Day 2 tomorrow.
@ProductDesignOnline4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Dennis. Glad to hear you made it through without any troubles. The "Y" axis used to be the default orientation (I record all tutorials with the default settings but they change from time to time). It won't affect anything with your model other than the orientation if you export it to another program (which you can typically rotate the model anyway). Here's the entire 30-day playlist: bit.ly/learn-fusion360 Don't hesitate to comment if you run into any roadblocks! Cheers, Kevin :)

I'm an old school drafter, trained on Autocad 12. trying to get back into 3d modeling after many years out of the software. This first tutorial has done a lot for me already. A few things I still recognize in there. Looking forward to going thru your videos

Hi Brandon, that is exciting to hear! I think you will be amazed at the capabilities of Fusion 360 in comparison to AutoCAD 12. There will be a lot of new features, yet I think there will be a lot that you do continue to recognize. Don't hesitate to comment on any of the videos with questions... should you have any! Cheers, Kevin :)
