AWESOME MAN!!! I finally got my 1/32 scale Nascar slotcar body to print properly and beautifully, from following this video, and making a couple of tweaks to the settings because the newer version of Cura is a bit different now. Now I just have to adjust the thickness of them to about half of 1.2mm, because that's too think for slot cars or even models of that size. Well, for models it doesn't really matter, as they are fine if they weigh a bit more... I was also using Blender, and had problems with the models after bringing them into Cura, so another video helped me fix those issues easily by grabbing 3D Builder from MS for free, which when you bring the STL in, it tells you there are problems and it auto fixes them with the click of a button. The only downfall was, it's auto fix also created a bottom to the body, but there was a simple "Hollow" button as well that then asks how thick you want your walls, which is where I assumed 1.2mm, but that's best for larger scale RC cars than it is for 1/32 scale slot cars. Oh well, trial and error... Thanks again for the awesome videos and going over your Cura settings here, it's helped me immensely!!!

Great video! I'm getting ready to dabble in trying to 3D print me some custom trucks. This video will save me a lot of trial & errors!

If you can get away with it: make the part needing support thicker (it's on the inside) but flat. That way you can bridge it. The bottom layer might sag, but it's on the inside (invisible?), so you might just cut it off after print. You can also just add a thin flat band / beam to your model just below the area where supporting is needed and then have supports from there to the top and cut off that band after printing. If the flat band becomes too long for bridging, then add small support structures in the design to split it into sections that can be bridged or just make it thicker so the first layer might sag a bit, but this would correct in the layers on top and since you anyway will cut it off, looks don't matter for it.

Do you have 3D models of the RC chassis? New to this world but building out a 280ZX model out of technical drawings which I know I will have to rescale to fit existing products

You should also try at 45°. Initially split the model at 45 so you have a flat base. It's hard to explain but when doing the front most of it would be at 45 so maybe no supports needed or very little

I know these are big scale. I really want to do 1/24&1/25 car models. How do you get the body design's? Is there a place to get them or can I draw them in cura? Can you steer me in right direction? I'm getting a ender 3 max soon and want to make sure I have a good computer maybe a laptop. Any ideas? I'm not a big fan of Apple. I've had lots of HPs

If you want to design your own bodies, you’ll need to CAD it using CAD softwares or websites and import it into cura. Personally, I very much prefer softwares over websites as they tend to be laggy and slow. fusion 360 is a really good and free software. Any computer with a decent spec would be able to run it (I have a normal hp laptop with i7 and no gpu) but if you’ll spend a lot of time of CADing and such, I recommend a computer with a gpu, or even better, a gaming computer.

Can you rip a model from a game and edit to make it "thicker" and then print it? I'm not really a 3d modeler but I used to edit car models for GTA.

Imho, if you want to print a car body, you have to print panels separate like they weld them together in the factory.

Why not 3D print moulds and use carbon fiber or fiberglass for the bodies? Thats how we do hydroplanes, outriggers, planes and jets, it takes about the same amount of filament and the results are a million times better.
