Shooting off hand standing separates the men from the boys. But for his comparisons, that would be wasting time and ammo. I use to always practice off hand standing, kneeling, sitting and prone. That's where the breathing and trigger control come in to play !

Very interesting. I have a stock Ruger 10/22 and I have some of that ammunition. I will have to see how accurate it is for my rifle at 50 and 100 yards. I will have to try it in my Marlin 39A Lever Action.

Always enjoy your videos. You present aspects of shooting accuracy that I typically don't read or hear. I recently purchased a CZ 457 varment MTR largely based on a video I watched sometime back when you spoke about match Target rifle tolerances. It's a shame CZ didn't offer a match Target barrel for the 22 wmr. I decided to purchase the barrel anyway but haven't yet set it up. Keep up the great work.

I have the 10/22 sportster , I find that CCI standard velocity is the most accurate out of the stock rifle that I have. I have a Kidd bolt on order right now , eager to see what changes once I change the bolt out.

Great tip in using the bullet to see if it falls out of the barrel. Curious where you purchased the headspace gauge for 22 lr.

Have seen where bore diameter on rimfires can vary from .221 - .224, and likewise different brands of ammo can be different from each other. To know, pull a bullet as carefully as you can from unfired case, drive it down (and out) the bore and mic it. Then compare ammo bullet diameter to "slugged" measurement. Ideally you want to match or be larger (tighter gas seal). A .221" bullet going down a .223" bore I would think would cause a whole bunch of variances (chrono, ES, DS, flyers in every direction) Gonna try this Aquila brand in my 10/22. Be sweet to have both headspace and bullet/bore diameter requirements met with one brand.

THANK you for your interesting and informative video. I've seen on a couple of other videos that was comparing different types of ammo that the person doing the video would shoot 5-10 rds of the next ammo to be tested to ACCLIMATE the barrel to the different types of lubrication of the different types of ammo. It seemed like that ALSO had a bearing on the accuracy of the ammo. I saw another video that the person was just changing the torque of the action screw, going from 5in/lbs-50in/lbs. which also changed the accuracy and that particular change is going to be different for EVERY RIFLE even of the same model. You have to treat each weapon as INDIVIDUALS even though some may be very similar in RESULTS. I'm an old accuracy FREAK, nothing like a weapon that can shoot tiny groups especially with CHEAP AMMO. 🤔😉👍😁

some of us love to chase accuracy. that’s our hobby. I dont hunt, so minute of squirrel isnt the goal. To each their own. Some spend Thousand$ on Anschultz or Vudu. Out of my budget. I like to take guns in my budget ( cheap ) then thru scientific approach to ballistics and squeeze out as much accuracy. Fun to beat guys w $3k setups 🤣

Whoa, Adams & Bennett. Didnt they stop making them? Is it a bentz chamber? Just got a Green Mountain barrel for my 10/22. The 17" Heavy Tapered Sporter barrel. So far I fired CCI Standard Velocity & Remington Thunderbolts. They both did real well, I'm going to try the Winchester 333 bulk pk next. Still never come across the Silvertips by Winchester. Thinking of getting a 16" for the Ruger also.

I have a Ruger 10/22 Target with the 0.920" bull barrel and haven't been very impressed with it so far. Your videos have opened my eyes and given me some avenues to explore accurizing it. Cleanliness is next to godliness as my Grandma used to say - looks like that applies to barrels too! Apart from a stabilizer on the muzzle, an auto bolt release, a Picatinny rail, an improved Ruger BX trigger (my rifle is an older model and did not already have the better trigger) everything else is stock. I will be looking to try some Aguila ammo, since it is now also sold here. Many thanks for the tips! All the best from Switzerland, Rob

Hoo Tee Hoo ( KZbin name ) brags about how he has never cleaned his 22 rimfire and then wonders about his groups. Others have told him how cleaning the barrel will make his testing more accurate. Some stubborn people , it just a 22 ! 50 years ago I cleaned my old ( even at that time ) Remington 22 rimfire pump ( I think it was a model 12 ). And strings of lead came out of the barrel. The rifle had not been cleaned for a long , long time . Never could get it to group on paper again. Don’t know why except our choices of ammunition back then was scarce compared to today. We are very fortunate to have selections.

Your ammo at a rim thickness of 0.050" far exceeds SAAMI spec's for 22 rimfire cartridges, which is a MAX of 0.043" It's no wonder you are experiencing bulged rims with a bolt face that barely meets the minimum headspace tolerance.

My most recent 10/22 was only $85 (a friend owed a dept & offered it, i couldnt say ok quick enough). I got an ark angel 10/22 AR15 stock w/bayo for $99. Its right at home w/my real AR15s, & is built very well. Of course once u add all the other dodads, bypod, sling, scope ect. The cost goes up a bit but its well worth it. If i had it as a kid it wouldnt have ever left my side. My other one has a williams peep rear & KNS cross hair front, its kinda like a one power scope.

You speak of tolerances but you measure the rim thickness not the girth of the bullet the fatter the bullet obviously it's going to stick inside the barrel what did your tolerances have to do with rim thickness

1:35 bud your not making any sense! If you clean your barrel you are cleaning out the fowling (provided you clean it right) only to shoot as you say “20 to 50” rounds to foul it out again? Fowling the barrel basically means shooting until the pits and low spots are filled in with lead or copper depending on what type of bullet your shooting! So if you’re gonna shoot 20 to 50 rounds in an attempt to foul out your barrel again why bother cleaning it in the first place? And what do you mean fowling the barrel to a new type of ammo?

I could see where some of this applies to competition, but for real world use its a huge waste of time, effort, and energy. .150 tighter group isn't going to make or break anyone or cause you to go hungry when hunting. Way too much effort for a very minimal return.

These results are from shooting bags ....not every one uses shooting bags or rest, you know this ...when it comes to freehand standing shooting which I do in the deer / squirrel woods that 1/8" difference from bags/rest turns into ALOT more while you're circling/hovering over your intended target
