This was actually super helpful, I have an interview tomorrow and like zero professional experience with ABA and it's for an ABA therapist role. I was so nerve-wracked but this helped calm me down and gave me lots of questions to formulate answers to. The interview is over zoom. I didn't even think about the scheduling thing or the restraints techniques but I see how important those could be. Keep making these. SO HELPFUL!!!

I do have to drive 33km each way. We never discussed travel cost. It’s just so hard with private companies as you basically have to figure most things out yourself as opposed to a larger firm. But things like this should be brought up asap!

ABA is abuse.
@plumbell673 жыл бұрын
I’m curious about this perspective as I was considering this job. What makes you think that? Do you know someone who has suffered due to aba therapy?
@mudbridge27623 жыл бұрын
If it is done incorrectly, yes. But the blanket statement that all ABA is abuse are just plain wrong and usually the ones who say it’s abuse have absolutely no clue what ABA is.

ABA is the most empirically backed, evidence-based method clinically shown to improve the lives of those on the autism spectrum. If you aren't using ABA and positive reinforcement, you are using coercion and punishment (a.k.a. being abusive)
