I'm a Harvard Grad-student at SEAS; but, I've never fully grasped Literary and English coursework. You did a superb job on this video. The content is precise and--for someone whose strong suits do not include poetry analysis--is extremely helpful to me. Thank you!

Ikr, like i feel like i could definitely do this reliably, just not in 40 minutes. If they gave me 80 minutes i would be able to make an excellent essay, clearly demonstrating my knowledge and understanding consistently. But of course, that would make too much sense for college board.

Great video! I have one question. Could you explain how the consonance of "s" creates a suspicious tone?
@MsPeerEditor5 жыл бұрын
Good question! That particular part of the poem you're referring to displays sibilance, which creates a hissing effect by using the "s" sound repeatedly. In some cases of poetry, sibilance can create a soft, musical effect, but in this stanza, the hissing sound makes it seem as though the speaker is spitting out the words, wary of the plants' intentions.

@@MsPeerEditor I thought more about the Biblical allusion of the serpent in the garden and how snakes kind of became known for being deceptive because of that.

This was a great video. Thank you very much! Just wondering though, is there a complete essay we could see that follows the outline you showed?
@MsPeerEditor4 жыл бұрын
I'm happy that this video was helpful! I actually took the AP Literature exam in 2018, so I wrote an essay using this prompt for the test itself. I was able to remember my annotations to make this video, but unfortunately, I don't have access to my essay.
@Dhruvbala4 жыл бұрын
@@MsPeerEditor Oh, that's unfortunate. I ask because I find writing the essay from an outline almost just as hard as coming up with the thesis statement and outline. Perhaps you could do a video on that, where you write full introduction and body paragraphs from scratch.
