Regarding the nuke one, they do actually address that in the 682 testing files. The Foundation rejects it because the risk is too great. If he could adapt to a nuke he'd be unstoppable.

After reading all the termination attempts on the wiki, my favorite one which was mostly successful was just slapping 682 with a hypersonic missile. He only survived because the anesthesia wore off enough that he split a small part off and the main body took the hit.

All these methods give 682 a whole hell lot of time to escape from it, there was an scp (I forgot which one it was) that was a infinite stairway and as they were sending scp 682 off to it he immediately woke up after sensing the danger and just blasted away from that scp. These methods could work if 682 is in a really REALLLY long coma.

Sending it to space is the most viable of these. Ironically the manga/anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure shows that ot might work, but it depends on if 682 adapts fast enough. Kars from Part 2 of said series, became the ultimate lifeform. He had gained the biological abilities of all life on earth, as well as similar adaptability like 682 has. Kars could not heat his body fast enough, nor project himself back towards earth. He froze, and ended up stuck in space due to being frozen. He was stuck in space so permanently long due to his immortality, he stopped thinking.. essentially brain dead. If the same were to apply to 682. Would his body adapt fast enough, to keep him hot? If not, he falls into the same fate. Eventually he would stop thinking, and thats it.

Nah, that wouldn't work. They also stuck him into a book that pulls real people into the fiction and forces it into the roll of the story. The book titled "The story of SCP-682 dying permanently" or something along those lines. After a long time passed, the book changed titles to "The story of how SCP-682 ALMOST died permanently" or something and spat him back out. This is the only known time that the anomaly does this. So using magical "just make it happen" anomalies don't actually 100% work. For example, he could potentially release a psychic wave that makes people think he is a different SCP designation and BOOM magical genie wishes to get rid of him don't work now because he is SCP-6682 or SCP-84269420 or whatever. He canonically does have plot armor.

You forget the true power that 682 has, not just his regeneration, his adaptability. If he survives a nuclear blast, he adapts to it. A different Channel did a scenario where the GOC hit 682 with a nuke and he grew to Kaiju size and gained atomic breath. Throw him into the Sun, he'll adapt to the heat and pressure of the star, and then you have a Superman level 682, no thanks. Plus I think in one of your own videos, 682 was the last thing on Earth, and had survived the Sun dying (which sees it expand to a Red Giant, swallowing the 4 Terrestrial planets until it shrinks into a White Dwarf) and 682 remained. Throwing him into a Black Hole is even riskier, because what if his adaptation to survive is gaining control over Gravity itself? Then you have a very powerful, very pissed off 682 making his way back to Earth to collapse the planet in on itself. Stranding him on a barren world _could_ work, assuming you found a planet completely devoid of sentient life he might actually enjoy his new home and stay there by choice. Though I find that quite unlikely. The single safest way to deal with 682 is to permanently contain him with 053. The reason he goes docile is because that's his adaptation to her anomalous effect, if he is incapable of aggression towards her then he won't drop dead from trying to attack her. The one and only hitch to this is that as far as we know, 053 has a normal human life span, meaning that even if the foundation is able to keep her alive and healthy for as long as is physically possible, that only buys us (at the current maximum estimate) 122 years of a calm 682. After that, we're back to square 1. Even ejecting him into other realities is risky (due to him always returning to bug the foundation), send him to the reality of SCP-2935 and there's a risk that the Spirit of Death follows him back and ends all life on Earth. At one point the foundation even strapped 682 to the unwilling dimension hopper, and a while later he reappeared with the Lizard and a note that basically said "We can't kill it, you deal with it." There is 1 portal/alternate universe SCP that could possibly contain 682; SCP-1165. This SCP is a portal that leads to the "Minus Level" From Super Mario (a real level btw), a Glitched out level with no ending, meaning 682 would potentially be stuck in an ocean full of Bloopers and Cheep Cheeps for the rest of time.

Personally I really want a series or a YT channel dedicated to the groups like The Global Occult Coalition. They think SCP should only be destroyed and not secured. I think a lot of issue with 682 isn’t so much that he can’t be destroyed, but more so that he could potentially adapt to anything. It has been shown that he does more than just acute adaptations but also long term affects that make him harder to contain. Such as how when exposed to the chocolate fountain with an army of insects he was mostly destroyed but after growing a long tongue and devouring the high sugar attackers he has been shown to regenerate much faster since then. Each attempt on 682 makes it much harder to actually contain and kill, so going all out may just make it even more dangerous. For instance, say we cuddle him up next to a full strength tsar bomba and then boom. There are two possibilities, one is that 682 becomes a smoking pile of ash. The other is that he is able to adapt during some point during his destruction, it could be with mere microseconds to spare but if he does adapt then he could be near impossible to contain as he may incorporate the high radiation into his body, become almost immune to the cellular degradation of acids as he would have had to deal with intense radiation, or he may simply just survive. The risk of that unknown change in his behavior/physiology is what keep the foundation from just throwing everything they have at him and I honestly find that pretty interesting. That keeping 682 as constant possible threat instead of potentially making him certain doom. That’s how I’ve seen it at least

A lot of these are covered in the 682 file tbh. They put him into a storybook about “a monster that can kill SCP 682, and he somehow adapted and killed the monster, showing that he can adapt to reality itself, so a reality anchor probably won’t work. Shooting him into space is a massive hazard because what if something goes wrong in transit? Shooting him into the sun is also proposed explicitly and denied because of the fear he’d adapt and eat a planet or something. We dumped him into a different dimension and the foundation of that dimension sent him back. Unfortunately he’s a problem we’re stuck with.

The only solutions here that would seem to work are trapping it in an al dimension, or using reality warpers. Another solution is SCP-294 The Coffee Machine. It was able to create a substance that could actually destroy a section of 682 that didn't regenerate. All that's needed is to create a large amount that can fill a tank.

We could always try to place 682 into SCP-2701 (True solitary) for as long as we choose. It won't kill him by any means but I don't think he could ever escape that until he reaches his release date. He would no longer be a problem so long as he is in there and when he is finally released, depending on how long he is in there for his mental wellbeing may have been completely destroyed that he might no longer be able to function properly. It would be interesting to see what it would do to him, even if it's a cruel fate worse than death (In my opinion at least.) Only issue is he wouldn't fit in the cell. We'd have to cut him down to size and stuff him inside while he's incapacitated.

In terms of permanent containment, we could make him cell mates with 173 for the rest of time, resulting in the worlds longest staring contest. This would also help contain the statue and prevent the crisis that happened when it multiplied and DID end up killing the lizard. That and it seems like they have some rivalry between the two of them.

SCP 2701 also exists. It's basically a prison cell that you put someone into, put a date on a fancy piece of paper next to the cell, and then they spontaneously disappear to some pocket dimension where they will be deprived of all senses. Also, to add to all that time for the person inside the cell will also be multiplied by about 100 iirc

Dude, literally 90% of these have been tried or propsed, and they've either backfired spectacularly or were seen as too dangerous due to irs rapid adaptive nature. Besides, the reality anchor one is just sad, because it only works on things that warp reality, and 682's anomalous nature is entirely biological. As for shooting it, it generated laser reflecting plating once, and fended off bullets by making bulletproof eyes. Shrugging off regular ordinance in short order is a cake walk for it. None of these would work. Not even 343 can do anything about it, and he makes the Witch Child look like the Vending Machine.

The main reason the Foundation is so selective on what they try to kill 682 with is because of how adaptive it is. When you try to kill it with something, you only have one shot. If 682 survives it, more often than not, it will not work again. The only thing that consistently seems to work is keeping it half submerged in acid to weaken it, and it still breaks out on a regular basis.

It is an interesting question, you could try many things but you will always run into 1 of 2 problems with the Lizard: Regeneration or Adaptation. However if you did find a way to turn off his Adaptation then yes he would be very easy to kill via disintegration or some other form of complete obliteration. But until the foundation finds the answer the Hard to Destroy Reptile will remain true to its name.

A lot of these are ignoring his very strong and supernatural ability to adapt. For example, 'launch him into space'. Once out there, he evolves closes off his orifices to prevent matter from escaping. He literally eats whatever capsule/rocket we launched him with, giving himself more mass. He then evolves some form of propulsion. This could be as simple as a supercompressed gas bladder or he could start breathing atomic fire and propel himself backwards like old timey godzilla. Again, adaptability is supernatural and he's copied other SCPs he's encountered before. Evolving a straight up teleportation or similar is not out of the question if he needs it to survive. Acid fails for the same reason, he loses some flesh, adapts to release a strong base to neutralize the acid (then just eats the neutralized liquid and the sealing tank to recover). Bullets have never worked, you imply the foundation gives it's security guards small arms...pretty much every description of him breaching containment has an intense firefight with military grade weapons and vehicles. Again, adaptability and moreover bullets lodged inside him is a convenient feed for him to regenerate from. Iirc Nukes have been discussed but ruled out, out of fear that if he can adapt to it (chaning his body structure to a heavy element) he'd be unstoppable until the adaptation wore off. The little girl is actually probably the best option you listed, just the foundation is very reluctant to keep two potent SCPs together long term. Putting him up against another powerful SCP is always risky, they've tried but he often adapts to either perfectly counter that SCP or he copies that SCP's abilities...a Lizard with the Deer's powers would be a Very Bad Thing.

The reason why SCP 682 is not terminated is because of the 05 council. The 05 council denies multiple termination techniques that were almost successful in previous attempts and only failed because of negligence. The 05 council also advocated that only a single SCP is used during termination attempts which is obviously not going to kill 682 and just cause a containment breach.

The destructibility of SCP-682 fully depends on the canon you use, which can be relatively easy to utterly impossible. If we go with some of the harder canons, he's thrived and scoffed at being wiped out of existence, making it really hard for us simple humans to do something like that. A better bet would be to rely on other SCPs, such as SCP-343, an absolutely indestructible being who is purely good, has a decent chance to destroy the Scarlet King with absolute ease, would at least have an easier time with 682. I like the canons where SCP 682 just has a thorn in his foot that's making him angry and when you remove it he becomes this adorable sweet creature like 999 that gives lizard hugs to all staff members :3

Warning: Very Long Text Ahead For once, I'm actually disappointed with one of your videos. Granted, I may not be able to remember everything verbatim from 682's file. However, I do remember how his regenerative effect isn't the primary catalyst of his "invincible" nature. His ability to rapidly adapt to and obtain new qualities/abilities based on the threat he is facing is what makes him so astoundingly hard to destroy. Especially since experiments done on ways to destroy him seem to show that his ability to adapt increases exponentially, the more he is damaged. Sure, theoretically, if there is any trace of 682's matter left, he can regenerate. Which, in and of itself, makes him near impossible to destroy. But his ability to turn any kind of threat or damage into a new strength or ability, while completely nullifying the threat of said damage in the future, is what makes 682 so terrifying to even attempt to destroy. Whatever you throw at him, you not only risk him adapting to not be affected by it in the future, but you also risk him obtaining a new tool in his arsenal to use against you that can be just as terrifying as what you threw at him in the first place. If not more so. Which makes him that much more of a threat and exponentially harder to contain as you continue testing new methods of destruction. I also remember his file mentioning that one of the researchers brought up the idea of trying to destroy 682 with nuclear weapons and that proposal was denied as the risk of 682 adapting that immense power into an ability he can use over and over again was far too great of a risk to even think about attempting it. I do agree with your assessment of using the multiple dimensions the foundation has access to as a means of permanent containment. However, that could lead to unforseen consequences in the future unless we knew every detail of that universe completely. Instead of just knowing the local, planetary, and/or star system information of the destination that the foundation currently has access to and has explored. As far as dumping him into space; our ability to track, contain, and react to 682's presence in space, on another planet, or asteroid isn't powerful enough to see that as an option. The second we lose track of 682, we lose our ability to monitor any potential of his threat level in the future. As far as throwing him into the sun, the same situation could arise from that as from the nuclear options the foundation has already denied. And we definitely don't want to risk 682 obtaining the power of the sun. As far as using other SCPs to destroy, contain, alter, nullify, or remove 682 from our reality; Any SCP that would use a destructive force to eliminate 682 is out of the question, as the threat of 682's adaptability to harm and destruction is too much of a threat. And using any SCP with reality bending/altering, dimensional travel, or godlike abilities would take an impossibly complete level of understanding and trust in the SCP, and it's abilities, used to make the attempt. Even the most benevolent of all-powerful SCPs are still seen as a threat for a reason. With any level of thought comes the ability for that SCP to take advantage of any situation given to it. For example, you have one of the SCPs in question attempt to terminate or neutralize 682. There is always going to be a chance, even if that chance is infinitesimally small, that SCP could use the attempt as it's chance to do harm or break its own containment. Such as a godlike SCP knowing for a fact that 682 can adapt the power of the sun, then teleporting 682 into the sun and breaching its own containment in the chaos to blink to another dimension where it is safe from the foundation's walls. Even if you could guarantee that an all-powerful SCP would never betray the foundation, there is no way to know if whatever power or ability it would use will work or trigger 682's adaptable nature through an unforseen trigger to its threat response. And we don't want to give 682 the power of a god. While I do believe that the current means of containment are insufficient, I also believe that the foundation's choice in containing and monitoring 682, instead of trying all means to destroy, remove, alter, or neutralize 682 is the lesser of all evils. While containing 682 is an immense and never-ending struggle. Frought with death and peril, it is better than trying something drastic and handing the keys of our own destruction to 682 in the process.
