I'm personally not interested or have the time to join a DBD team or tourney. What I would love to see is a 1v1 game mode that follows the 1v1 rules you have mentioned.

dbdl ladder still kinda scares me for some reason, but getting into comp by joining a team (now made my own), scrimming everyday and signing up for tourneys made me improve so quickly its unreal. comp is genuinely the most fun ive ever had and all the people ive met because of it has changed my life. id highly recommend anyone and everyone to try it for themselves if they are passionate about this game and its community. amazing video v1

UPDATE for everyone. I've been a part of two comp teams and have played in around 3-4 "casual" tourneys/scrims. I played on OhTofu/Grindhouse/ThunderGun It was a very humbling experience especially going against EU players and dealing with 180+ ping. But alas, I continue to improve and nothing will stop me lol For those curious, comp is both stressful and immensely rewarding.

while I agree burnout is real, you probably shouldn't be wasting so much time on games, do some gardening, create an ecosystem for plants and animals to be happy, or if you were to play dbd, I doubt you'd have gotten burnt out if you played with the right mindset, just as comp players have the mindset that camping and tunneling are the norm, if you play pubs you gotta get it in your head that it isn't serious and that the objective isn't killing survivors, but having fun, I don't go out of my way to hook people, I usually only hook so I get bloodpoints and the survivors get to play the game sooner as recovering from downed state takes a lot more time than a survivor just grabbing them off hook in a few seconds now this is probably a bizarrely unique opinion, and it probably derived by my deterioration of skill in shooter games over the years (probably from playing too much dark souls LMAO) but I really enjoy the relaxing, unique and hilarious gameplay of DBD, especially killers that have unique chase powers that aren't just holding W and m1ing (one example I could give of a goofy build that is really fun would be trapper but using his traps during chase in a more engaging way instead of just placing them on doorways or pallets, but grass is so bad now that I actually feel depressed playing trapper :( yep ofc BHVR had to nerf trapper instead of making nurse fun to verse and such amazing)

i took this advice and it’s true, the first many 1v1 matches are humbling but you learn so much from other players and your own mistakes this way. you grow in both roles, and it definitely has re-ignited my love for dbd 💕 thank you for this!

Saw this four months ago when it was posted and was interested, but didn't want to take the plunge as I knew I didn't know anybody in the scene and I had no idea how to get started. It's been in the back of my mind ever since though, and I'm finally mentally ready to dive in. I've always loved DBD (played over 3.2k hours of it) and I can pretty confidently say I'm going to have a blast on my journey making friends and, well, gitting gud. Just wanted to say thanks for making this and making it accessible for someone like me that is a relative "outsider"!

I viewed DBD as a meme game for a while, I just played to have "fun" for so long. When I got to about 1K hours I started focusing more on getting better, I had more of a desire to learn & become a better player overall. And that was even MORE fun for me bc I was pushing myself in new ways & loved seeing the improvement in my gameplay. Now that I have over 3K hours, I've kind of felt a struggle to move past a certain point. It's not really a "burn out" feeling, I still enjoy most of my matches & enjoy DBD in general, but I just feel like I've reached a plateau. I enjoy watching tournaments & tournament players, not sure I've gotten to the point of wanting to do that myself, BUT I've often thought of doing scrims. I love the idea of playing against better players and learning from them bc I know there's so much more I can/need to learn. So thanks for this video & the links, it's deff hard to find some of this stuff & get started with it!

Honestly, if you work hard and put in the hours, as long as you meet a specific team's requirements, they'll absolutely take you on for a try out at least. I've got 1.4~1.5kish hours and I found a team that let me try out with 0 comp experience. As long as you're willing to put in the effort, newer/smaller teams that have no real set limits on hours will let you try out. And if you aren't ready yet or don't make the team, ask for feedback, work on it, and try again. Definitely use comp videos and tourneys being open to watch to supplement hourage with observed experience. You'd be surprised how far you'll get. Anyways, I hope you do put yourself out there! I wish you luck if you do decide to go for it, I'll be rooting for you. ❤

Something some people dont understand about the difference in mindset between comp and pubs is that you HAVE to be humble and willing to learn from your teammates, or lost matches, or even just 1v1s. Hourage or game sense means nothing for you if you dont leave your ego at the door. If you cant do that, you will struggle. You will get put on your ass more often than not, and you have to be able to take it and use it to grow. I only recently joined comp and i have already been humbled multiple times, and i absolutely have loved the experience. If youre even SLIGHTLY interested in comp, definitely look into it.

idk if you read this because this video is almost 8 months old but your video made me try 1v1s. It was a unique experience but for me personally it was kinda soul crushing. I rarely play Killer and I got looped for almost 8 minutes while as a survivor I didn't even last a minute because I was too nervous. In these matches I played very badly, didn't look behind me and fell for the easiest mindgames. I felt broken and switched back to pubs where I got one bad match after the other. Then I asked myself was this video for me? Was it a good idea to try some 1v1s and hope to learn something? The answer is maybe. Right now it feels like this video is more for people who can loop killers for 3 or more gens on average and who got bored because they are on a decent level but not on a pro level. I am not on that level and I don't know if I should try 1v1s when I barely stand a chance in pubs. It feels really frustrating at the moment but I have to mention one thing: The players I faced where all very nice and friendly. At least the ones I faced and when I looked into others chats they were friendly to each other too and always found an agreement to work with. I never saw the ban phase actually being used there. There were some exceptions, people who gave me probzz vibes, but we don't talk about these people.

Hey V1. I just got into 1vs1 and stuff and I got a potential video idea that you could do to evtl help a lot of people, me included. What perks/addons are the best to use on killers in a 1vs1 cause I personally find myeself a bit lost on choosing what addons are the best. I know that most killers either use bamboozle or brutal strength but at the addons I'm mostly lost. Would be great if you could maybe make a short video about something like that.

like i said in the vid, you are way more likely to get a chance if you're the one approaching teams and asking for try-out. If you have a couple hours of guaranteed time where you can play everyday thats a big +, and if you have even more time in which you can practice 1v1ing even better

@@OrangutanKingBabyEater ideally if you want to improve you should try to 1v1 players around your skill level. If you have friends that play dbd you could start with those, if not you could move on to 1v1ing on Scrms server

@@v1rtual_reality656 my friends don’t want to play this game because they don’t want to deal with the toxicity but I have 1v1’d someone before because they were salty that I killed them and called them out for dcing but after the 1v1 (we tied) it turned out wholesome. I wish they added a 1v1 mode cause it was super fun. Once I feel more experienced with survivor and some of my killer mains, I will def try out a 1v1 server.

Hey V1, thx for this vid. This really encourages me to join comp dbd. I am already burned out of soloqueues and can't play swf because my friends don't play this s**** game^^. Also I like playing games competitively. From what I have learned, playing 1v1 is the best way in getting better, which is my goal. Now I am asking myself what's the better idea, playing scrims or dbdl1n1 for a beginner? I am a beginner in terms of compdbd. I have 2.5k hours (50 surv / 50 huntress). But I still feel like I am so bad at looping as survivor. And I don't see much progress anymore. Any suggestions? Best way would be to find someone like me (but better) and train 1n1 over and over again. But I guess it's hard to find someonel like this.

I think Scrims Server 1v1s are a good option, ideally you can find a friend / team and also 1v1 with them, DBDL Ladder when you cant get anyone on your level. Youre not going to get better over night and its a long process but gl

The thing is, in 4v1 the positioning and strategy of the team matters way more than your individual ability to loop in the end. So technically you could be a really good 4v1 player even without being an exceptional looper.
