I have tried to learn the basics so far, but I have rarely put what I have learned into practice. I have been teaching myself about one year. I do have a job, so I am not full time learning, but I am scared to speak, just in case I make a fool of myself. I will try your method. Hopefully I can progress. Thankyou

Hey Mandy! I admire your time and dedication. Working and studying is a challenge (but also worth it). I hope you get rid of your fear to speak, because you shouldn't care at all! I always tell my students that every time you learn a new language, you have a chance to decide your new identity, and express yourself as you wish. It's a fresh start :)

All good tips C. Thank you for this simple, easy to implement approach. I was doing some of the things already. I was giving commands to my dog in Spanish, but now I will use him as a conversational partner! Really enjoy your content. You have a gift for explaining and being clear to beginners. Cheers.

I am so glad I found your videos on KZbin. I am motivate to prioritize my time with your videos and list of words that I will use in daily life. For instance, medical terminology, my partner recently went through emergency surgery and now has ongoing doctor appointments. I am a retired nurse, so I will focus on those words. Secondly, I am so grateful for the community I live in and the people that have helped me through the process, I live in Ubrique, which is predominantly Spanish speaking. Now with your list of greetings I can feel more comfortable to meet and greet! Thank you. The next time, I will comment in Spanish, I hope🙏

Hola de Valencia . I am loving your tutorials. I have lived in Girona and Marbella over the years too. It’s difficult with the different accents. I had to learn quickly because my builders were Spanish and I used Google translate. I will have a look at Reverso. I have been lucky as everyone was so kind and happy that I was trying to speak their language. I always ask to be corrected as I have made some terrible mistakes much to the delight of the locals. A sense of humour goes a very long way and a smile. I now need to keep up as I have become lazy which is why I look forward to your videos. Muchas gracias 😊

Hola Cate! Thank you SO much for sharing this. I love your experience, and I'm also a big fan of sense of humor when it comes to those situations. I'm happy to hear that these videos are helping you. Sometimes it's hard to keep the motivation and the learning habits, but it's really important to keep learning things that are connected to your real life. Un abrazo fuerte!

Me gusta todo lo que dices and do these things myself. I really find that having someone to actually talk to is so helpful. I love it when you put the dialogues on the screen because that really locks in sentence structures and the ease of real language use for me. I really want to use italki, but I am absolutely terrified of getting online with a stranger. I don’t necessarily want to be corrected constantly- I want to work it out myself through the challenge of an interchange. My question to you is how do you keep languages straight without mixing words together from other languages? This is my biggest problem.

Thank you very much for sharing these valuable thoughts! I'm honestly constantly struggling with mixing languages on a daily basis. I personally can't have more than 3 languages "available" in my mind to speak (although understanding is different). Sometimes it's even easier for me to express certain topics in English than in Spanish, and I think that's completely fine. In the end it's all about your personal situation and the languages that you need on your daily life what will be dominant. Then, learning additional languages is absolutely fine but we shouldn't punish ourselves when mixing them up, just keep practicing and have those languages more "available" to be ready to speak next time💪🏼

A lot of people often get a bad experience talking to a native speaker because they're busy. Shopping is a great example. If the store is busy or this person just has a lot of work to do and your language level is really low then they're going to do whatever they can to get through the situation as fast as possible and they may look a little frustrated. But if you talk to people when they have a bit more time and they're relaxed then you usually get a really good experience.

Totally agree with you, Paul. Sometimes we don't see how we are also approaching to locals. I have had amazing experience speaking with natives in China and Germany, but it's also about showing an attitude that you really want to practice what makes the difference
