Thank you for telling 5:58 us mostly monoglot British how to pronounce these revered names. Am I right in thinking that Mauritzhuis is pronounced Moritshouse and Rijksmuseum is Ryksmuseum?

Yes, thank you for the correct pronunciations .. the Dutch 'van' comes out more like 'fon' to the English speaking ear and the 'G' sound is like a drunk German clearing his throat from a lot of phlegm after drinking too much milk.🤣 Ach, a romantic language it is not, but it's a lot of fun trying to speak it.🌹

Haha you're welcome! Fon sounds like the German 'von', and although it is very similar (especially to the English speaking ear like you said) there is a difference in the pronounciation of 'van' and 'von' 🙂

Most of those names are so easy to pronounce for me (for Indonesian tongue), except the 1st one. Van Gogh.. it hurts my throat a lil bit to pronounce "Gogh". 😁

Hahah I totally get that! Many people have a problem with the hard ‘g’ letter. I actually heard that some people were learning the language and they had a sore throat after practicing😂😅
