I had wanderlust when I was young. Safer to stay at home these days.

Wow! It's so cool I found your channel! I'm Dutch (grandfather came to USA from Netherlands) and I live in Texas. I really enjoyed and laughed at some of your observations! I can relate! "So, you're from Texas? Where's your horse? Do you have cowhorns on the front of your Cadillac convertible?" "You own oil wells?" -btw, my grandfather and father also always said that Amsterdam is NOT reflective of the culture or people!!! Thanks for a great channel!!!!!

My grandmother was from Eijsden and I still have relatives in Gronsveld, Kaider en Keer (my moms cousins are the Verstappens). One of the places everyone should visit is the American Cemetery at Margraten.

Could you tell me if there is a way to obtain a monthly TRAIN pass that allows you to travel unlimited for a month on the train anywhere in the netherlands? For buitenlanders (not from inside Holland - we don't have a Dutch bank account for the Dal or other monthly passes that they list).

I heard there was a small, rural town near Utrecht, sort of like an Amish town, where you could still buy farm products, milk, cheese, etc direct from farmers. If you could commend please. Thanks.

I once was playing Atlas with a guy from the Netherlands and I asked him what he thinks of the Arabs. He replied they blast Warnings from their Mosque via loud noise. I am Muslim because I asked a Kurdish guy if Islam made his life better and he said Yes. He showed me Ali Dawahs channel. And I later on became Muslim.

Can I use a credit card issued in the United States to purchase metro and train tickets at the ticket machines?
@weeardguy14 күн бұрын
Oh yes ;) Most likely you will even be able to use it directly if it is enabled/can do wireless transactions, should you feel like trying that. I've seen the most weird bankcards pass by and have only seen 1 being refused by the validators at the airport (where I come 4 days a week and usually start to see if I can help people if my train is delayed or even cancelled, so I meet a lot of people with bankcards).

Other videos emphasize the fact that at uncontrolled intersections, you must give way to traffic from the right. You seem to know a lot about the many failings of the US, and your video seems aimed primarily at preventing visitors from the US from making mistakes while driving in the Netherlands. So it surprises me that you fail to point out this most critical difference between driving in the US and driving in the Netherlands. If your concern is safety you should update your video to include this most important bit of information.

Looks like I did the correct thing in doing all my travelling years ago when I was young, fit and mentally alert. Just the Eurail ticket and the strip cards or day/several day passes and you could go anywhere. These days, without owning or knowing how to operate a mobile phone, I'd be doing a lot of hobbling along on walking sticks! I do remember (and have retained here somewhere) the Dutch rail map with the different coloured lines depending on the frequency of service on them. The apologetic tone in the "We're sorry but there is only 1 train per hour on this line" was laughable to an Australian who only had 1 train a week on the line through his country town! 😱😵💫🙄

I still consider public transport in netherlands pretty bad. Just pick any random two points in the map of rotterdam. Should be litte far and obviously not beside a metro or train station. And you will see Cycle is always the faster route compared to public transport. Even if you get the tram/bus/train in 1 minute after walking to station. No matter the distance. Even for 10-15 km train bus tram metro all fail to you there before the cycle.

Bad commentary and irrelevant film inserts. If you're going to include a narrative in English then speak slower and enunciate your words. It was rushed and incoherent in parts.

As a train enthusiast from near York, when moving in 2002 to 🇩🇪 Wegberg near Monchengladbach, I quickly spotted the active single track running through near the centre of the town (ca. 30,000 inhabitants) with passenger services ending at Dalheim just before the 🇳🇱 border. At the town hall meeting for new residents being welcomed by the town mayor, my question about reopening the disused section beyond Dalheim through Vlodrop to Roermond recreating the "Eisenerrhein" (Iron Rhine) was shotdown in 🔥 flames stating that the proposed 24/7 freight traffic would be too much of a strain on the residents of the town having two level crossings. The sleepers and rails beyond Dalheim into 🇳🇱 are mostly overgrown with vegetation making walking difficult. How about adding a surface to make it a great 🚲 cycle track until the 🇧🇪 🇩🇪 🇳🇱🇪🇺 multi country political issues hampering the railway are resolved?🤔 PS The Meinweg national park reserve is a lovely area for recreational walks, but please let it not be too overrun by visitors potentially spoiling it 🌲🌳 🌲
