3:00 Now I feel even worse for my father.Back in the mid 70's he was shot while in the army,they couldn't remove it cuz the bullet entered the bulb-shaped part of his humerus bone(aka the head of the humerus) he's 63 now and it's still in him. (10/05/22 edit- July 20th of this year, the man I spoke of in this comment, my Father, passed due to bouts of Covid, Pneumonia, and Lung cancer finishing the job. (Cherish everything and everyone you have, they can be lost faster than they were found. I didn't get to know most of the people I've lost before it was too late, and I regret it deeply)

Tourniquet placement is VERY important; if your wound is below your knee or elbow, your tourniquet MUST be placed above the knee/elbow. Why? Because with the tib/fib & radius/ulna you have space between those bones and you won’t stop the blood flow, the t’quet is only effective if it’s wrapped around a single bone. For wounds above the knee and elbow, place the t’quet a few inches above the injury and crank down. As someone who has had a tourniquet applied, it can hurt as much, or more, than the initial injury. I carry a trauma kit in my car that has 4 tourniquets and blood clotting agents, I teach my kids that you apply pressure, (and that hurts like a heard of elephants standing on it) until you can get a tourniquet on and tight, once you have stopped the blood flow, apply the clotting agent, cover the wound Tightly, and slowly release the tourniquet ensuring that the wound site stays blood free….or, if you are close enough to medical care leave it all on and tell the MED staff what you did, how you did it and very importantly, When you did it.

Another tip for a gun shot wound, snake bite, etc, to keep as calm as possible. Not only will you be more rational and quick in your thoughts and action but you will also keep from spiking your blood pressure which will make the red stuff come out of your holy body faster than you want it to.
@Yassty
@Yassty Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's very important advice. Keeping calm in emergency situations like a gun shot wound is crucial for maintaining a clear mind and being able to make quick and effective decisions. By keeping calm, you can also prevent an increase in your blood pressure which can make the bleeding worse.

Fun fact, acute severe injuries are some of the few medical bills in the US that are treated long before payment is expected. You will get the surgeries needed to save your life in a world class facility and would not see a bill for months. You can also easily die from a minor tumor going untreated for years due to not being able to afford it and not having insurance pre-approval.

I was shot in my left cheek bone by a ex 3 days after I turned 22 with a 25. I zero complications except sinus issues because the bullet glazed my left sinus cavity. After the hospital did a CT scan, they told me the bullet was less than 1 1/2 cm from my spine. If it did hit my spine I would be paralyzed from the mouth down. I still have the bullet in me to this day. Long story short. The best way to survive is to stay as calm as you can and try not to go into shock. If I went in shock, he would have shot me again and killed me. I said and did what I had to, to survive. However, I do suffer from trauma from that day and will I will be in therapy for the rest of my life.

Combat Engineer here. You can get out of a minefield, you just need patience and resolve. Protip: If you see sticks/rods poking out of the ground in the minefield then you know where most of the anti-tank mines are already. You'll still have to poke around for the anti-personnel mines though. Don't touch the rods they make the mines go boom.

I'm in law enforcement & I've met with the tri-state area head of FEMA who was a military trauma surgeon. He told me 100% NOBODY should ever die if shot in the arm or leg if a tourniquet is used in time. I told him I thought you'll make it so that you lose your arm or leg if one is used. He said you have HOURS to get yourself to a hospital & dealt with before that becomes a possibility. That if you're in a civilized country this shouldn't be an issue at all. This guy was responsible for the Police starting to carry tourniquets. His push with his presentations started Police carrying them. I carry one on my duty belt & one in my glove compartment. I also carry Quick Clot bandage in my glove compartment as well. It can save your life or a loved one. It can even save a stranger's life if you can help them.

The best tip for surviving prison is not going.Seriously though,if you have to go,just don’t pretend to be something you’re not,don’t get involved in other peoples business and most importantly,don’t gamble or borrow anything. If you don’t have it, it’s best to go without until you can get your own money on your books and get it yourself. Other than that,just keep your head down and treat people with the same respect you would want. The last thing is to get yourself a program/schedule and stick with it cause it not only helps you stay out of trouble,it helps make your time go by a little faster.

No no no no no no. Never, EVER loosen or release a tourniquet, once placed. Folks, please do not listen to this advice. OP, please take a Stop The Bleed course, and educate yourself on why this is horrible advice. Periodic releasing of the tourniquet only greatly increases the chances of not only continuing hemorrhaging and exsanguination, but also compartment syndrome. Really. Please. Educate yourself.

It's not all that expensive to get 10 years worth of multivitamins. Getting enough of all the specific vitamins is harder and more expensive. Calories and protein would still be a problem. Coconut oil can last a decade easily, which takes care of the basic energy requirements to at least some extent, peanut butter can also last for years and also has some protein in it. Peanut butter powder lasts even longer than normal peanut butter. Just getting enough of those would be considerably more expensive, plus you might have to supplement the peanut butter to make sure you get COMPLETE protein- miss anything and your body won't have what it needs to build the tissues it needs. Also consider some collagen to help your skin stay okay. As for a purge, I'd probably take my sleeping bag, a tarp, a heat blanket, some bottled water and an adult diaper and find a quiet spot to hide and sleep under someone's porch. The main concerns then is someone burning down the building or shooting the porch for some reason, but that isn't all that likely. I can sleep for around 12 hours, so I might be able to just sleep through a Purge.

I got shot 2 years ago and was extremely lucky. Adrenaline kicked in, I basically only felt the burning sensation all over the left half of my body. I was lucky bc it went through fatty tissue and didn’t even hit muscle, bone, and it went straight through. Have a scar and medical debt but I’m grateful to have lived.

If I had to survive the “purge” I would hide out at our old beach house. The only way you can get to it is by boat and it’s a couple miles away from civilization. Then for the remainder of the time I’ll do some fishing, cuz no one is coming out there during purge night and if so you could see/hear them coming a mile away.

I bought The Wim Hof Method last year and it's awesome. Unfortunately, in North Central Florida, our "cold" water in the shower is comparable to the ground water, which is ≈72°, so it's not great for cold conditioning. Luckily, my work has an ice machine. So I just need to fill a couple of coolers to get ≈50lbs of ice in the bath, which, with the "cold" water, brings the temperature to as low as the low 40°s. If only I didn't have to switch between my legs and torso, at 6'5" in a standard tub.

Infographics, do you know that the Russian 7.62 combat round and the American 7.62 machine gun round are not even close to the same cartridge. The Russian 7.62x39mm round fires a 122 grain bullet at around 2300 feet per second; and the NATO 7.62x51mm cartridge propels a 147 grain bullet to almost 2800 feet per second.

A nuclear winter will depend THE MOST on where the bombs where detonated. A high altitude detonation will have the least amount of radioactive fallout material into the air and at the right altitude the only stuff shot into the atmosphere will be the material the bombs are made from like the metal of the case, wires, plutonium and stuff like that. however a ground detonation will radiate tons literally tons of dirt will go into the atmosphere and that will block the sun and rain down radiation.

Crocodiles: Hold the mouth shut, strongest bite doesn't mean their opening muscles are strong, in fact those are quite weak, if you get a chance, hold it shut, you can easily do it with one hand as it's that weak. a rubber band could keep it shut.

The speeds indicated in the video for how fast bullets go is significantly off because 9mm travels at 1200-1500 feet per second and 5.56 travels at 2200-2600 feet per second. That is really fast but no where near as fast as miles per hour with the same numbers listed in the video. For being an information based channel I would’ve figured this basic information would’ve been correct. Also with military field medicine you should put a tourniquet above where the wound is on the limb and you have 8 hours to reach a trauma surgery to be able to save your limb as long as you stopped any major bleeding before losing too much blood and dying early in the 8 hour range after the tourniquet. If ever in a knife fight you have to realize you will but cut but ensure any cuts you receive are on the outside of your arms/legs and never the inside of the limbs by the body where the arteries are located on the limbs. If ever getting into a knife fight you must realize you will be cut so ensuring they aren’t critical cuts is most important.

You forgot to say that when you make a tourniquet you have to time the time since you made it to give that information to the doctors as soon as you arrive at a hospital.

A guy I worked with (law enforcement) got shot in the nads. After we got the gun away from the bad guy, the only thing available as a compress was rags from the garage…. He lived, albeit without his family jewels…. Bad guy got shot from the same bullet and it severed his femoral artery. Surprisingly, he lived too, only to escape from the hospital…. I was really surprised bad guy lived because the blood loss was nothing like Id ever seen before…..
