That adapter has two flat o-rings inside, the seal is made by the OD of the steel tubing, not the flare...

Thanks as I too agree the photo of the two parts are very confusing. But many like photographers know cameras and not parts. Part of a group, for a major car company, we were show a younger guy creating animation on a FWD automatic in cut away form. He was asked several questions, I ask him if he knew how a an automatic worked? He had no clue! Hope that "Darrel" enjoys his new hose. Thanks!

A HUGE thanks for the vid. I was having the same issue and was agitated by trying to figure out how the fitting worked on factory lines. You're right; the online pics don't show enough detail, and my Ebay part didn't have instructions. Gonna finish the job tonight. Now, my Jeep project can get a drink of go-go juice!

I'm glad it helped you! I'm a bit of a visual learner, sometimes just being able to screw with something makes it all so clear to me.

Yes, Home Depot sells 50 foot garden hose for $12. Probably won’t fit or hold fuel for long, but is cheaper & hose!

Do these only work on GM steel lines or will they work on Ford 3/8" line as well?
@TheDrivewayEngineer4 жыл бұрын
Probably not, I'd imagine it's a proprietary connection.

Well this makes a LOT more sense,, literally every pic doesn't show the adapter properly. much better than having to cut lines an put a 37deg flair on the end
@TheDrivewayEngineer Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they do a poor job of showing what's going on with them lol
@learysinsight9617 Жыл бұрын
Actually that might not work. You have to have unflared tube going past the inner Orings or it will leak.

It's literally designed to do this 😂 Been on my truck not leaking for 5 years

Would these hold up with transmission fluid? Trying to make my own trans lines without having to cut the trans cooler ends
@TheDrivewayEngineer Жыл бұрын
There's nothing special about transmission fluid, if your cooler has these ends, they'll work.

What about the plastic push lock clips in a fuel pump assembly? Do I need to ones with the plastic clips? Or this style?

I'm using the same type of fittings on my factory 1987 r10 sending unit and they are leaking fuel out of the back side of the fittings. Any tips on this. Thank you.
@TheDrivewayEngineer Жыл бұрын
The sending unit fittings don't take this type of fitting, these only fit the LS rails. At least they didn't fit my 87 sender, I had to use compression fittings.
@70656jt Жыл бұрын
@@TheDrivewayEngineer that might be why they are leaking then. Thank you, keep the good content coming.

@@TheDrivewayEngineer good to know, Im trying to adapt the lines on my 88 R10 , I have an aeromotive Stealth340 pump and the lines just arent enough, I was looking at adding a return bung AN-6. but this would be a lot cleaner if it worked.

You need a stand for your camera, don’t breath so heavy in to the mic
@deankay44343 жыл бұрын
Generally, the union frowns on camera guys who give advice to a professional sound man. The “Grip” has one job, to hold the direction mic. Only the set director has artistic license over the filming and final product. But the Union can come down hard on you!

I bought these fittings directly from the link that you posted, but they did not come with any type of O-ring or seal… It has to have something like that to make a leak free seal correct?
@TheDrivewayEngineer3 жыл бұрын
No, notice there's no oring or seal in the video
@MotorCityDonzi3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDrivewayEngineer okay, people were talking about them in the comments and it got me confused

The taper part is the seal, it's how a flare works, no worries
@khairirfs76242 жыл бұрын
the cut hardline must be flared to use this fitting?
@TheDrivewayEngineer2 жыл бұрын
It's already flared, thats the point of the fitting, don't cut anything, don't flare anything, just put these on.

When that fitting is installed should it be able to spin
@TheDrivewayEngineer3 жыл бұрын
No, they lock down
@DemonChicken3165 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro, I assumed that's how it worked but needed to make sure before I started pulling shit apart.. what's weird in there is 2 o-rings inside the 6an side of the fitting🤷♂️
@Mr334cobra5 жыл бұрын
Those o-rings must slide over the hard line to provide a good seal. There cannot be a "barb" on the tip of the hard line as the o rings won't clear the barb without getting torn up. However, the "barb" must be 1-2 inches DOWN the steel hard line and THAT is where you will place the threaded ended and that barb will act as the retainer of the adapter so it doesn't slide off.

It's Parker 801-6, I buy it at my local Parker store, it's all over online as well. It's not E85, or even fuel rated. It's been working fine for me for years though.

Thanks for the video. PLEASE consider your viewer when filming and make more effort in keeping the camera steady and center the subject in the viewfinder. Nothing is more displeasing to a viewer than looking at your hand and not the subject.

Just for anyone else, 644113 is for 5/16 line, and 644123 is for 3/8. ON an LS engine 3/8 is the feed and 5/16 the return, but I personally use -6 AN hose on both.
