i dont know how a 72' Chevy Nova....would get lost in the 2019 crowd..... it actually stands out so much as it is in stock form next to the tiny aluminum/plastic cars of today.
@danielschmitt74273 жыл бұрын
And the factory "bulge" hood is waaaaay less comon than a nova with a cowl. Speaking as a nova owner with a cowl hood in my shopping cart. hahaha I love the look but it DEFINITELY ain't original 😅

Maybe but cold air intake is good for 30 extra HP
@lukasgarage9565 жыл бұрын
@@mikeskidmore6754 30hp .....get real
@mikeskidmore67545 жыл бұрын
@@lukasgarage956 It depends on how much cooler the intake air is. Roughly 1% increase in power for every 10°F cooler the intake air becomes. I measured about 25°F difference in the air above the carb with my fresh air setup, worth about .15 sec in the quarter. You may need to recalibrate your jetting to take full advantage of the extra oxygen. If you had a 400 HP car and dropped the air temp 30 F you would gain 13 HP
@C10sRule5 жыл бұрын
There are so many Novas out there with Cowl induction, that this car is likely to get lost in the crowd because of it. If it already had 400 hp in the prior example, I wouldn’t want any more horsepower. I would want the originality instead. The chrome updates are nice for sure.

@kennethsouthard60424 жыл бұрын
I like Nova's myself, but I think 72 was the last good year, after that they pretty much became the GM "corporate car" where every division had one. On top of that you also had the bumper and emissions standards starting in 73. I think that's where most of the hate comes from.

One question that always crops up is. Is the air pressure at the cowl / windshield base high pressure or low?
@leoa4c5 жыл бұрын
Generally, a high pressure zone (slightly higher, depending on the windshield's angle, the hood's transition step, etc). However, it is not at all the ideal solution. Dragsters use it when a ram air intake would be significantly better. The cowl will force the engine to intake the hood's boundary layer, which is comprised of low energy flow. So, in conclusion, it is a beneficial device, but not one that I would use if avoidable.
@davebarron59395 жыл бұрын
@@leoa4c That is always what I thought, there "should" be a low pressure zone at the cowl, but what do I know.
