He said that the external drive "must be connected and powered up to the Tivo forever, or you're lose any new recordings since the upgrade." (4:45) Does that mean that a simple power outage will whip out any recordings? If so, that alone would make this hack a waste of time. Does the same apply for the approved Western Digital hard drive?

+Plazaaz no a power outage will corrupt anything that is recording durring it. You should not lose anything else as long as the drive comes back on when the tivo does. with any computer/hdd if it shuts off while saving you lose what you where working on nothing more.....usually lol
