Midi keyboards don’t matter. Keyscape is the best piano VST on the market imo but there are a lot of good pianos for kontakt, addictive keys is good too

How did you decide what root note to play under the melody?

It was really just preference based on sound, you build the triads (3 note chords) around certain notes in the melody and you can go up or down. A Good thing to do is learn chord progressions you like and just use the bass notes from them because that's basically what i did

@@MelloDeeBeats I do something similar where I play the melodic note on the upcoming down beat as note 1, 3, or 5 of the triad chord (but down 1 or 2 octaves below the melodic note).
