How to add custom sounds to Tesla Boombox using your Sentry drive

The latest Tesla software 2020.48.26 includes a cool Boombox feature and offers you the ability to add custom sounds, but doesn't explain in detail how to add these sounds easily. just download whatever sound u want from youtube by using youtube-dl, and drag and drop the mp3 file to your flash drive.

@@onlyVetements To add, you can use Audacity (free) to trim the mp3's to your liking. Edit it down, then go to file -> export -> mp3

I found to play mp3 files in my Tesla Y I couldn't use the same USB drive as the one used for Teslacam videos located in the glovebox. I just found out I needed to use another USB drive (pre formatted fat ext), with the downloaded mp3 files / folders and plugged into one of the center console USB C Connectors. Only then would the USB source button appear in the music toolbar.

I did everything as you said but when I plug in the drive, it just shows up as a USB with files, The sounds so not show up on boom box. Any help?

I've been having issues with it when I preview sometimes it would stop playing with my custom audio then I try to play another one and it all stops working together.

Hi there! Thanks for the video! I actually got this to work but I'm having an issue with the sounds playing on the external speaker. The sounds only play if I roll the volume wheel on the steering wheel. Yours doing this too? Any fix? All the OE sounds okay externally without rolling the volume wheels.

I don’t want to partition my Tesla USB. Do you think it may work if instead we connect a USB hub with two drives??

Forgot to mention, make sure there are no spaces in the names of your sound files and make sure there are no more than 5.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Mine too sure up in my USB piece, but not in the Boombox drop-down. I saw that my file names had spaces, so I took them back to my laptop renamed them without any spaces. But after loading them back in my Tesla, the spaces came back. I rebooted my Tesla screen, but there's no change: songs show up in my Music/USB section, but not in the Boombox drop-down.

I figured out my last remaining issues. I files were in a M4A format. After I converter them to MP3, they started working.

The drive name needs to be "TESLADRIVE", the folder inside needs to be "TeslaCam". Easiest way is to format the drive in your car under Security options, save a Sentry clip, take the drive to you pc, copy the TeslaCam folder to your desktop like shown in the video. Follow the video again, then paste the TelsaCam folder back in the TELADRIVE after you create the partitions. I also changed the driveletter on the Telsadrive partition back to H: not sure if that matter though

Yes, you would use Disk Utility instead of Disk Management. Same steps, 2 partitions similar sizes. Perhaps I’ll make a Mac version later if I can find another USB drive.

@@brianrobinson2715 I found the music on KZbin and downloaded as an MP3 from there. Just go to Google and search for “Download KZbin as MP3”. You’ll get plenty of sites where you just paste the address from the video and it will allow you to download as an MP3 to your computer.

I finally got it to work using a Mac by creating a folder called Boombox within the Boombox partition.
