Hi Gary, thanks for the video. What happens if I leave the default merge tag empty under settings? Will Mailchimp also include an empty space like "Hi.....," if there is no first name?

Hi Adrian. Yes, if the merge tag value is empty then Mailchimp will insert nothing.

You could use a single field as long as the required information is in that field

I'm trying to make a template and the FNAME tag doesn't even show. It shows List Name. Why can I make a template with first name? Seems silly to have to edit the email every time. Please help. I appreciate it.

You may manually add the first name merge to the template and it will fill when you assign an audience and send.

Gary thank you for your great help. I have an issue I hope you can helped me with it. When I was adding contacts from a excel sheet. I kept the name column but when I imported it to my chimp account I am only able to see the email. There is no name so when I want to send them a personalized email It's not possible. Is there a way we can fix this. I was trying to unsubscribe them and redo the process but it didn't worked. It said you already have this audience. Thank you

Hi Gary, It's infuriating that when you send a test mail from mailchimp it comes out as Hi >, why is this please?

When you send to an email address in an audience, Mailchimp takes the first name associated with the email address. When you send a test email, there is no first name field associated with the test email address this Mailchimp just enters a default value :(

Hi Kathy, it looks like you are using PHP to select cfname from an array. The PHP is likely thus hosted by your website and not Mailchimp. I recommend engaging a PHP and/or Mailchimp developer to assist.
