As an added benefit, the DAC in this unit is better than the one in the sound bar, so there is a noticeable upgrade in sound quality.

When I plugged my 2022 Sony OLED into it, then the RCA out to my hifi amp it caused the TV to keep switching back and forth between TV speakers and external speakers. Great video! I had always wondered how well those little hdmi extractors worked. As odd as it sounds, an Apple TV 4k is good alternative as well albiet not as cheap or simple. Apple TV remote has a programmable IR blaster that can be set up to control volume on any device that uses an IR remote for volume control. I don't normally care for apple products but works great for TV streaming. Makes my wife happy to be able to turn on/off the TV and control volume with one remote. My AVR can use ARC for volume control but actually prefer the IR option, works a bit quicker. Figured I'd share in case it was helpful!

Dude, received this from Amazon end of last week. Really like the sound of the DAC with streamed tv, movies, and Pandora music. I used the optical out from a 10 year old tv. Unfortunately, I cannot specify the second HDMI port on the TV as an audio out to feed the DAC and just use one remote for volume. So, the Mrs is a bit miffed about that, but she did like the sound the DAC produced. And I did too. I can't say it is better than a Modi, but for us olds, the highs and speech are preferable with this than thru the Modi. And I can use the old tv USB port to power it. I plan to just Velcro this DAC to the back of the TV. I've not tested this with signal direct from CD player yet. Some system details - Roku to TV via HDMI. Optical to this DAC. DAC then to two amps - a 90s era low end Yamaha and to an emotiva a100. A100 is used to pass signal to the Yamaha. The Yamaha plays thru Sony SSCS5. The emotiva thru (no judgements) Bose Acoustamas also from the 90s. Use the two volume knobs to mix sound to surprising effect. Bose cubes sit on top of the sonys splayed left and right at about a 45 degree angle from forward facing. The cubes are brighter with this DAC. But the bass module is tighter with the Modi. For me, this is a nice dac and improved our tv and Pandora music enjoyment. KZbin sounds better too.

The high end version of this is the Bluesound NODE N130 and its later iterations. It can output to USB, Coax and Toslink. And if you replace the power module in the NODE to allow for an external power supply and hook it up with something like the iFi iPower Elite 5v (even as a stremer only), you will notice a difference. I have this and my signal goes through HDMI->NODE->USB->DDC->I2S->R26 DAC. HDMI ARC Volume control also works in this setup. @@horrorfan6710 the sound will be good enough for TV :)
@mrenlightened Жыл бұрын
@@horrorfan6710 It mostly comes down to noise control. More expensive setups tend to use better quality parts that filter noise well. Unless you have a resolving setup you are unlikely to hear the difference. The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel has covered this topic in one of its videos. Digital data still travels as analog wave forms and noise and jitter can distort that waveform leading to incorrect interpretation of bits on the receiving end without source based error correction - this affects toslink and coax which uses PLL to do its best to guess the bit value. USB has error correction built in (at the expense of a slight bit of latency and high levels of power noise) and I2S sends timing information to avoid the need for PLL and its associated interpretation mistakes or the increased latency/noise of the USB.

I really don't get why modern stereo integrated amps don't include HDMI especially since HDMI Arc has been around quite some time now and dedicated Audio Out HDMI is becoming more widespread. Just because I want the higher quality audio that a stereo amp offers, does mean I don't want to use it to watch movies and tv series as well as YouPube and other streaming services. mmm, I've tried a few cheaper units that have auto switching and it's hit or miss. The Arylic B50 has auto switching and it worked for me about 80% of the time and the other 15% of the time there was about a 60 second delay and the remaining 5% I had to switch manually. I have not seen other people have the same issue so maybe it was not compaitble with my TV (LG C1) and might be worth trying for you.

Sorry. Disagree with the power supply comment. You should use a £500 linear power supply.

good point, good point! I think at least 00 gauge cable for best signal transfer.
