@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 12 сағат бұрын
yes, it worked fine but in my opinion it's a case of "just because you can it doesn't mean you should". I do not recommend tube amps, even powerful ones like the Brunoco be intentionally paired with hard to drive loads like the 1528. The 1528 is a speaker that was desgined to work best when fed loads of power.

I don't tube roll so I can't really say much about any particular tube, I prefer to review the entire unit as a complete package. I will leave the tube conversation for those with more expeirence with such things.

which one would you choose for a mix 50/50 HT/music usage, E15HP2 or FVX12? sub will be in the living room
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 17 сағат бұрын
E15hp2 is a little more accurate/precise and has bass that is slightly tighter, all the Rythmik subs have these characteristics of course so it's not a huge difference but the E being sealed will have that slight benifit. The FVX12 will have a little more weight to its sound as it loads a port so the bass is slightly different, initial attack of vented subs is always a little softer & fuller when compared to their sealed counterparts, some people really like that presentation while others prefer the tigther sound of a sealed unit. Both subs have incredible transient response and articulation but the E15hp2 has slightly more. The FVX12 is actually my favorite Rythmik sub but in most cases I recommend the E15hp2 more because it will fit most rooms aesthetically nicer sticking out less from the wall and is technically better but it does cost a little more money. The FVX12 is a really amazing option for those that feel the E15hp2 pushes their budget a little too much. This is like choosing between a Porsche 911 GTS or a 911 4S, either way you're getting a Porsche :)

How does this compare to Galion TS120SE?
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda 18 сағат бұрын
TS120SE is a different sound, and has a lot more features like tone controls, a nice remote, and subwoofer outputs. Galion TS120SE gives you more wattage and a more muscular sound overall with treble that has a little sharpness to its attack and bass control that is more on par with solid state. TS120SE is like solid state treble & bass with tube midrange, easy way to think about it :) Both amps are fantastic, the Brunoco is still more expansive and has more separation while the TS120SE can drive speakers to much louder volumes and has a more muscular sound overall including a more weighty midrange. Neither of these amps are super warm, both have really good clarity & resolution.

WTH? Is it Class A or pushpull? You normally forward bias the push and the pull to cover crossover, which makes it class AB. Just get a good digital and put an audio transformer on the output to give you the distortion you think is somehow better than accurate reproduction. Spend your money on speakers.

@@NemoPropaganda Sorry, throwing out class D was a bit trollish, I don't really like class D, it has it's own problems, but it is great for LOUD systems. It was the ridiculous faux-tech jargon that caught my eye. I am a retired engineer that grew up with tube amps. Those circuit description is some of the worst jumble of meaningless jargon I have seen in a while. They have been designing tube amps for over half a century. There isn't much new. I built one back when you could go to the drug store and pick up a couple of 6L6s. All push-pull output audio amplifiers (now called class B) use a little forward bias on at rest (class A) on both halves to cover the crossover distortion. The dominant source of inaccuracy of a tube amp is the output transformer. Instead of exotic topology, did they use Nickel/Iron cored transformers? People seem to like the way this amp sounds. If you have that much money, go for it. Do you do double blind tests on this equipment?

I bought the Brunoco Terra 6L6 amp and have it paired with Heresy IV’s. Sources are Teac turntable with Nagaoka MP-110H and an Eversolo DMP-A8. Both were great, airy & detailed, controlled bass. John Lee Hooker on the turntable had slightly warmer presentation and both were very detailed with great separation. Both came across effortlessly. When playing jazz the richness of the double bass was incredible and horns were heavenly. The Heresy IV’s were great at low volume, but when turning them up they scaled like no tomorrow. Wow! Best I have ever heard them, period! 17:40

Thx, bit confused though… Didn’t you recommend the T7x over the T9x as the more power max be contra productive given small room size? Now i hear you recommend the way more stronger s/510? Am confused as I’ve listened to the T7x in a huge room and had so no problems with very high volumes playing top notch w. 10k triangle speakers..
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Күн бұрын
no, you are paraphrasing what I said a little too much and leaving out very important context, I do not make blanket recommendations, everything I say has context and the specific context to that statement you are referring to was in my room specifically and when using pairs I could get the T7X pair dialed in nicer than the T9X pair because the T7X pair is the appropriate size for my small room. I do not see how that is relavent to my review of other subwoofers, larger models, or where there is confusion.
@dismemberizer827
@dismemberizer827 Күн бұрын
@ ahhh, gotcha!! Thanks for the quick response. I reckoned the s/510 was reviewed in the same small room as the hard(er) to dial in T9x? 120sq foot studio? This was where my confusion came in. I‘m just looking to upgrade my 215 sq foot living room, regular furniture’ed rectangle shaped living room, with limited space of the subs placement w. T7, T9 (I could get for the same price as the T7) or s510. Thx for the quick reply! Running T+A criterion 310s on a musical fidelity m6si. I would assume T9 should be a perfect fit as REL stated s510 are designed for speakers >$10k a pair full range and >$5k a pair of shelf speakers; eg B&W 800series. When I heard the T7 yesterday without comparison, the dealer recommended T7 over the T9 given T7s apparently better agility due to smaller 8“ speaker size. Since I couldn’t compare, and T7 sounded great I’m just trying to evaluate this statement 😂 Thanks for your thoughts!! Really like your reviews!

In spite the fact that the manufacturers are just audio guys in the business of making good sounding gear, The taxes paid by them and their employees go to a government that makes hypersonic inter-ballistic missiles with the money. Unrelated but question about "dark" to "bright" scale of my speakers: I bought my KEF R3 (not meta) for $1200 when they were discontinued. I do really like them but I think I might enjoy something that is less "bright" or "forward" in the mid range. If you have heard them, do you think the R3 (non meta) is towards the bright end of the scale? I haven't heard enough hifi to know. I was wondering where on the dark bright scale they are compared to that Spendor Classic 3/1. That review had me thinking I would really enjoy a speaker like that. I know it's not the same price range but I'd love to hear a dark to bright comparison of the two speakers just so I know if my R3's actually are more bright in the mids or treble compared to other stuff. Big thanks for all the reviews.
@NemoPropaganda
@NemoPropaganda Күн бұрын
Hi bro, I have only heard the meta version and no I would not consider it bright at all, maybe setup in a really bad room with a lot of echo it could sound forward but the midrange of R3 Meta leans very slightly warm. Your taste may perhaps be for much warmer, around the same price that would be the S400 MK2, even warmer is Dynaudio Evoke 20. If you want an upgrade that the $2.5k category that would be the Spendor Classic 3/1.

That is unfortunate but also fairly odd, I've reviewed more REL subs that just about anyone else and this is the first time I'm hearing any feedback like this, I personally own 6 REL subwoofers and have owned them for a very long time now, as a reviewer I'm using them often and even abusing them often and I find them to be rock solid. It may have been a case of bad luck but you may want to consider looking into power conditioning, that is a lot of a failures and something else could be causing it, the most common cause of amplifier failures in subwoofers or stereo amps is actually the homes electricity, people don't really like to talk about this because its hard to fix and even harder to confirm that's the actual problem as the topic of electricity is not well understood by most of us.

Maybe REL should stand behind their products and offer a better warranty, like Bryston.
