How do people set a song to be their ‘original audio’ when clearly it’s been used before and it isn’t their own music. It seems like users do that so that when you click on the audio on the reel it takes others back to their page.

The royalty free music that is available in reels is awful and very limiting 😭 they said it’s 9000??? I see like 50 songs to choose from. It feels like a punishment

You can do this inside InShot! You just need to use your fingers to move each clip of audio so they don't cover one another... Does that make sense?

Bella Foxwell thank you! If I use music through Inshot instead of Instagram, how will that affect the Instagram algorithm? I wanted to use instagrams music to take advantage of their algorithms bumping me up further to be shown in featured reels. How does this change using inshot for music?

So Instagram wants as much of the Reel to be made natively/within the app as possible. If you need to add your music separately because you've got the two tracks, you can still make sure you add all the text (for example) once you're back inside Insta. I use InShot for most of my editing (like adding text/music) because certain features inside IG are glitchy for me! I've still generated great views / engagement on my Reels so I'm not worrying too much about using InShot if I have to!

on your reels after you get done creating, you can mix audio , where you music won't over power your original audio if you level them correctly. it's one of the options in the top right corner. if that's helps lol i think i understand what your saying.

I have enjoyed the video, however you lost me after you spoke on the reels. I have made the reel but I don't know how to add the music on my android phone. I did it before but can't remember how. When age is catching up with you , oh well you know what I'm saying. HELP!!!!! When I upload the video or reel, it only showed one picture and I had 10 or more on my reel, I don't know what happened to the rest of the photos, but when I went back to the original reel their still there with all the photos

If I understand you correctly, you had to created two videos and brought the visual content of one with the audio content of another. So, there was no editing of the final video in Instagram. Do I have that right?

If the music is available inside of Instagram then it’s very unfair to then say that you can’t use it? I think it’s different if you have gone out and recorded someone else’s content and then created your own video using their material. I’d always wondered how people were getting away using stuff from TV and films without any copyright issues.

It's a bit of a minefield I agree. I don't worry too much about using the music in Instagram's library but some people are very cautious about doing so!

@@BellaFoxwell I’d agree. If IG provide it for you then it should, in essence, be cleared for use. That’s why on a business account you haven’t got popular music whereas on a personal or creator account you have all those options available to you. I’m assuming IG hasn’t got rights to allow ‘business accounts’ to use that music. Which is a bit of a mockery as there are a seriously large number of creators and influencers making way more money than most businesses. I think it’s particularly dicey if you’re using other sounds or audio you’ve captured yourself and are uploading as ‘original’. I heard that if it’s less than 30seconds it’s permissible but you’re inviting copyright action and takedowns surely if you haven’t got the rights covered.

My best advice is to find a song that is long enough to fit the length of your video - saves lots of fiddling / stress!

Ooo I don't think so - not yet anyway! You could record the song you want (using tip 2 at 04:49) and then see if you can do this using InShot (blending that audio + your audio)?

The original audio I usually use is a clip from a TV show / film. The copyright laws differ country to country, but usually if it's a short clip and you're parodying the content / changing the meaning, it's usually okay. But don't quote me on that!
