You are a good teacher. I like transferring the dart to the waist rather than the shoulder. I have a 2’ difference between my length of bodice to waist.

When you transfer the dart to the waist by cutting the pattern open… do you then sew the fabric in using the triangular bulge at the tip to recognize where you should be sewing? You seem to understand and I am just lost on what to do after cutting the waist dart open
