How to Use the Sketch Fillet Command in Fusion 360. The sketch fillet command can be activated from the sketch dropdown list or from the right-click sketch menu.
It’s important to note that there is also a model fillet command, that is located under the Modify dropdown list. This demo is on the sketch fillet command, and later on in the video, I’ll discuss some general rules that will help you decide which fillet command you should be using.
The sketch fillet is a sketch element that lets you create a smooth transition by adding a tangent arc between two elements.

One thing that would be worth mentioning is that you can't create a sketch fillet where a line intersects a full circle. It only works with partial arcs. This was driving me crazy for a good while; It had me believing that filleting line to arc simply wouldn't work. After watching this video, I figured it out, even though it wasn't mentioned directly.

Hi, Have you done any videos on sculpting/T-splines where you design a cover for a device. Something like a plastic body for a drones electronics. I can't figure out how to do that, and make sections to fasten the cover to the main electronics body.

Hi Suhayl Patel. I haven't made one yet... however, I do have that type of video on the list. I'll try to make something like that in the next week or two. Cheers, Kevin :)

I think you just took me out of a fillet hell I found myself in. So much better to fillet things in modelling mode than to try and do this in sketch mode. I was constantly fixing my sketches since the sketch fillet command would often remove constraints on adjacent lines! I could only get fillets to behave if I did sketch construction lines than placed collinear sketch lines on top of them. What a nightmare. Thank you so much for the enlightenment.

Hi, Michael. Glad that makes sense - model fillets are almost always better :)

@@ProductDesignOnline I'm afraid none of this makes sense to me. I have set up an exact replica of your 2-line corner and followed every step. Yes, I'm in the sketch environment. The sketch fillet tool turns the cursor into that little filleting icon with the "line or arc" prompt. But unlike your video the cursor stays that way. Your cursor reverts to a simple arrow. Mine stays as the fillet-icon cursor thingy. I've tried waving it around the screen, clicking it, right clicking it. It stays that way, and in that mode appears to be completely impotent, mouse over a line, click on a line, whatever. It's a ghost-cursor... the sketch environment doesn't recognize it.

@@ProductDesignOnline I have figured out the problem, referencing another f360 YT channel where the entire construction is shown from beginning to end. The crucial issue is that all filleting has to be done on a new item, before finishing the sketch. The is no post-construction modification of a sketch-corner. How I missed that (if that is indeed the ridiculous case in fusion360's pantheon of baffling design-philosophies) in all the expanse of fusion's sprawling forum topics is beyond me. Regarding the previous remark about the cursor-shape, it still didn't change to a regular pointer as yours did, but was equally effective.

Hey there. great tutorials overall. Any tips on creating a proper looking Fillet Weld? Found a video for Inventor that apparently has this exact feature, but it seems it would need to be manually created in 360. I've been playing around with an SVG file I created from a photo of a real weld, but I'm not very happy with results I'm ending up with, not to mention the number of surfaces and faces really dog down the workflow.

Hi, Azzray. Great question! Unforuntately, there is not currently a fillet weld tool in Fusion 360. Autodesk inventor is certainly a little more advanced in this realm. The workaround would be to use the sweep command to "fake" the fillet weld. I found a Fusion 360 forum post with a video that I think could be helpful to complete the method I mentioned- forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/making-welds-fillet-in-corner/td-p/7513111 Cheers, Kevin :)

Hi Kevin, I'm trying to fillet the corners of a center rectangle, but I get the warning that constraints and dimensions were removed during operation. First 2 corners and rectangle remains black, but last 2 corners I get the warning and sketch remains blue. Thanks, Ron
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, You'll almost always get the "Constraints were removed" warning during the application of sketch fillets. With center-rectangles, it will always delete the "perpendicular" constraints that are in the corner, as seen here (#1) - snipboard.io/Q5kr2h.jpg Your filleted corners should be black if they ALL have a dimension applied to them. In my reference image, you'll see that all four corners have the dimension of 10mm applied to them, as they're all tied to the dimension in the upper-lefthand corner. It sounds like two of your fillet dimensions are not defined, which is why they would be blue. Can you try adding a sketch dimension to the radius of the undefined fillets? See if it throws the "driven dimension" warning or not. If you can provide a link to a screenshot that would also help me check if it's something else. Cheers, Kevin :)

I do not have these options. I only have one fillet command and it works on one corner of the square I am starting with in the sketch, but then does strange things when I try to fillet the other corners.
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabe. There are two fillet commands. A SKETCH fillet command that only works with sketches and a MODEL fillet command that only works with 3D solid bodies. The SKETCH fillet command is now only accessible when you're in an active sketch environment. To enter the sketch environment you can either select "Create Sketch" or right-click on a planar face or surface and select "create sketch". In regards to working on only one corner, are you using my demo file? One possibility is if you're entering a fillet radius that is larger than the dimensions of the square.

Thanks, but...How about removing them? How to remove fillets without destroying your sketch once you apply them? :(
@ProductDesignOnline
@ProductDesignOnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, equiz. Great question. The best way would be to use the "trim" sketch tool. Video on that here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHvPaWWpgMlogpo The trim tool works great because it will remove the fillet details and relevant sketch info, without skewing the sketch-like it does when you "delete" the sketch fillets. You may also find success in using the undo feature. If you click and hold on the undo button you'll see that you can undo to a specific instance of the sketch.
