You wouldn't go in and clean up the areas between the three star images? There's an unnatural triangular color shift because of the color variances between the edges of the star images.

It works well, but I probably wouldn't do it. As a photographer there is something to be said for capturing these photos naturally - getting up early in the morning, using a long exposure etc. It's fine for a quick fix but it's not something I'd be proud to show as mine.
@christosspanos62487 жыл бұрын
da5idnz actually it doesn't work well. you can't add stars to a nightscape photo. almost every star or at least some stars are recognizable to anyone who captures nightscapes like this. however I agree totally with you about capturing those images naturally, I love doing it. Aaron and phlearn team I'm sorry to say, its the first dislike to your channel, even so I love your work.
@EmpyreanLightASMR7 жыл бұрын
Been watching your tuts for a couple of years now, loved this one. It immediately brought to mind some question of ethics though for those photographers who are interested in submitting works with stars in them for actual publication or contest judgments. It is always best to be honest with the direction of the camera and the subject and the actual alignment of the stars along with that time of night. I've seen photographs of famous landscape monuments with impossible renditions of the Milky Way behind them (wrong direction, or blatant repeating of constellations) and I think it hurts the integrity of even artistic photography. I just wanted to step in and make a quick comment about it. I know this is a *very* artistic approach (and channel) and I love watching your videos, so this is only to serve as a kind reminder to photographers thinking of publication where other photographers, viewers, readers, etc may become misinformed about night-time shooting in areas they're familiar with. :)

@stuartschaffner97447 жыл бұрын
Really well-done tutorial, as usual. Near the end, when you want to move and scale the stars after making the skyline mask, can't you just hit that little chain-link icon to the left of the mask? Then the mask wouldn't be affected by the transforms and you wouldn't have to clean up.

Using a different photo - when I get to magic wand with empty layer, the tool will only mark the entire photo not the skyline only. I have tried this on several photos by the Magic Wand tool only grabs the entire photo - not the skyline. Am I missing a step or setting - I am using photoshop 21.2.4 no Photoshop CC - so not sure if I need to do something different to get that action with the magic wand

Why my photoshop makes it a copy from stars when I press ctrl + alt + T and try to move it or change size?
@vilmalazzarini88474 жыл бұрын
Couldn't do the magic wand, it'd take the whole frame. So I opened th group and put a mask alongside the three merged layers and with the brush (soft) and with the foreground in black could paint out the excess of stars.
