I have to add a comment about Malik and his style -- from his "peeps" to his "love" to his CORNY jokes. When I first started to watch Malik's PD videos, I nearly rolled my eyes -- it was just so hoaky and too cute. By my third PD video, not only do I appreciate the real quality of his videos but I have grown to LOVE this unique quirky character that he creates for the ins and outs of his videos. During his videos he is 100 business. But now when I search for a video and see that there is a PD video by Malik, I pick that one because 1) I know it will be excellent quality and 2) his quirky funny intros and character will always bring a smile to my face at a moment when I am trying to do something which is always challenging and anxiety producing. There is nothing quite like a friendly warm funny person easing you into something that is otherwise daunting. Malik, you are a wonderful teacher and clearly a person fille with lots of love for what you do and for your "peeps" who I now count myself among. Keep on keeping on my man!!!

Thanks Maliek! I've noticed when dragging a Transition to the end of a clip with no neighbor, sometimes the system gets confused whether it's a starting or ending Transition. For example, I'll add a Fade to the end of a clip, but when it hits the Transition, it jumps to black, then slowly fades IN rather than out! Have you noticed that? In properties, there isn't an option for In or Out, so I don't know how to smarten it up...

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have about 200 images to add transitions to and I was not looking forward to doing this one by one. Now all I need to do is find how to apply the same process to resizing images. I know you an apply a resize to all images but this stretches images and you lose image sharpness/quality. I need a resize process that will enlarge the image not stretch to fit. Will check your excellent channel to see if you have some PD magic on this. :)
@PDU_Tutorials5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kudos. PD isn't a true photo editor. If you're looking to get precise photo editing you might want to look to a dedicated photo editor for that. Once the changes are made you can then import to PD to make your video.

Great work as always. I am trying to make the switch from Pinnacle to PD but the standard transition seems to be overly complicated. As you know in Pinnacle I could grab the clip and drag to the transition time I wanted for a cross dissolve. Can this be done in PD?

Transitions can only be dragged in between clips or to the beginning or end of a clip. You can change how the transition behaves in the settings or by modifying the transition. I show how to do that in the tutorial.

This is a great tutorial, thank you! I'm having issues with 365. It seems I can only add one transition to one clip. Then the rest seem to just "not take" I can drag them down, the little bounding box pops up like it's going to add it, then the slider just bounces to the end of the clip. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
@PDU_Tutorials2 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. If you are placing a video transition on the video half (the top) of the clip it should stay as long as you are placing it in between clips, at the front of a clip, or at the end of a clip. If you are doing those things you should contact CyberLink for support. The link is on my channel under the About section.

@PDU_Tutorials5 жыл бұрын
You get the option to add a cross dissolve based on the transition you select. Not all transitions have that option. After you add the transition to the timeline click on the Modify button above the timeline and the option to change the transition will be there if it is available for that transition. Watch at 4:35 (not available) and 5:40 (available) to see the difference.

Thanks for making the video, saves me a lot of time just experimenting to figure out how transitions work in the program. There is one area I'd like advice on regarding transitions. How would you use them when using two video tracks. I am running a 2nd video track that is offset from the 1st track so that I can have more control over the audio in the 2nd track (i.e. suppress voice and background noise.)
@PDU_Tutorials5 жыл бұрын
I would set the transitions to cross so that the audio and video on both tracks stay in sync.
@whpromo5 жыл бұрын

@@PDU_Tutorials Wanted to mention that the video on how to edit sound, and mute specific areas within an audio track was also a very big help in this instance.
@backporchpicker4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the useful tutorial on transitions, and info regarding audio sync.. In my PD14 Ult after a multicam edit and clips are moved to the timeline, inserting a fade (dissolve) will take the audio out of sync between the clips etc. I am aware of the work-around, copy , paste video on track below, stretch required clip, split, copy and paste upwards as a cross fade.( in the y/t workaround video tutorial, adding transitions to PD 12 multicam designer) Ive now changed in preferences, the default transition behavior, from overlap to cross, and can insert a fade (dissolve) without losing audio sync. Is this the correct method as I cant find any tutorials/info, on inserting transitions within a multicam sequence.
