I'm so pleased I found this tutorial. I don't like working in thick yarns. DK is my favourite. I seldom see something I would like to crochet and using yarn I like. I'm going to give it a try using your calculations. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. You've obviously been reading my comments on every single garments designers I follow. I'm in Australia and rarely need even an 8 ply garment. This is the clearest tutorial I've ever seen. Again thank you very much. 👍👍🐨🦘

I have pattern testers based in Australia and they've raised the issue of lack of choice in that yarn weight, which is what prompted the video to find an easier way to switch to a different yarn weight.

Hi Fiona! I've just subscribed to your channel having found out about your CAL on facebook. This video is brilliant at explaining about different ways of adjusting the pattern for yarn weights. Just what I needed. Looking forward to the CAL (I have a stash to use up but just might get the same colour as you are wearing - its gorgeous!

Hey I'm want to make a easy blanket with all sizes yarn how do i go about it would appreciate it

This was great information Fiona. I reviewed your blog post and followed the formula. In spite of meeting gauge in my swatch, I knew I was off after four rows of the back panel. (I decided to get started to give myself more time during the CAL.) I was three inches wider than I should have been! I didn’t want to switch to a smaller hook because I was afraid the drape and openness of the pattern would be affected. I went down a pattern size and now have the width I want. The only thing I can think of is that I am more relaxed than I was crocheting the swatch. I don’t know how you came up with the formulas, but it sure is brilliant! Do you see any issues with me proceeding with the smaller size?
@CosyRosieCrochet7 ай бұрын
Most definitely our gauge can change as we work through a pattern - it's not always reflected in our swatch as they are small and we are usually concentrating a lot more, making the stitches tighter. The width is most important to achieving the correct fit and I don't see any problems with making a smaller size if you will achieve the correct width - as you progress through, check your finished length before you reach the Armhole Shaping to confirm you'll be happy with the overall length. So pleased it made sense and the formulas helped :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m just starting row 11 and am exactly 20 inches wide. I’ll check my row gauge after I have about another 10 or so done and see how I’m doing. I’ll keep checking as I go along. I’m planning on the tunic length so have a long way to go. This is such a pretty pattern repeat.

So I would like to both size down my yarn and hook. How in the hell would I do that?! I looooove this pattern but dont want it to be as "see through" as it is so I figured I could size down the hook. I didn't realize that the pattern calls for a weight of 4 but I would like to create this with a 3. So instead of a yarn weighted at 4, I have 3 and inastead of a 3.5mm hook, I'm using a 2.5mm. Is this possible?

Once you have your gauge swatch stitched up, you can calculate the size to follow - Apologies for the late reply on this - I answered your message on Facebook

if there wasn't # stitch for finish size, it's Cluster. how can I do the calculation? Thanks.
@CosyRosieCrochet5 ай бұрын
That's a good question! You can count how many clusters you have inside your 4"/10cm instead of the stitches. So, if you have 4.5 clusters per 4", you would multiply that by your finished size = 1.125 times 38" = 42.75 clusters - and round up to the near nearest number of finished clusters. Hope that helps
