Very informative and enjoy your vids as usual. Had a good old laugh at the comments of people advising you that you could also adjust hand brake behind the cup holder ! After all , “didn’t you mention this in your video “lol🙄

Great video! One comment is that the lever end adjusting nut (that you access after the star wheels are in the right position) on the two 200 series I've owned is under the cupholder, and the cupholder comes out by pulling straight up (no screws or anything holding it down). Yours didn't need that adjustment, and you just mentioned removing the center console in passing. It is very easy to access. Again, great how to. Thanks for posting it for all of us!

I found the handbrake adjustment under the pop-out cup holder assembly. But after new brake and rotor install, and adjusting the e-brake shoes, that handbrake does not have much stopping power. The shoe pads themselves still looked okay….maybe just old?
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures Жыл бұрын
If you replaced the rear disc/drum assembly I would say the handbrake shoes have not bedded in to the new drum yet. Try driving slowly and applying the handbrake a few times to bed them down. Then readjust them again to take up the free play and see if that helps. Cheers👍😎

Nice video mate. Really enjoyed your presentation style, very clear and informative. Due to do this on my 100 series very soon should be a good refresher. The cruiser handbreak has a bad reputation but I think alot of it is due to poor maintenance and adjustment.
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Bradley, I sincerely appreciate it. I agree a lot of problems are due to poor maintenance and adjustment. That coupled with the abysmal design of the handbrake itself means they rarely work well. Have a great weekend mate😎👍

I have the same issue with my LX570 and have to adjust the starwheel in the rear once a year. I do notice that on my Lexus GX (Prado 120) the rear parking brake has an auto tensioner that keep it adjusted as the rear parking shoe wears. Why don't Toyota put that auto tensioner in the 200 series so we don't have to manually adjust the rear parking starwheel every year?
@JafffaAdventures

Good question mate, I guess they need to keep up the tradition of crap handbrakes on the Landcruisers! Cheers

Great Video. I had to figure it out by myself when I readjusted my wheels brakes a half year ago. Was still to loose but since my 200 is a manual I can park in 1st gear… half hour ago I set the staarwheel again two clicks closer. Will seenif it works and if not I’ll need to order a new set of brakes…

Hey Terry, great video once again!! To adjust the cable inside the cab, do you just remove that one piece around the handbrake or the whole thing needs to be removed? Cheers & Thanks.

@@JafffaAdventures thanks mate m8 worked out fine, mine is 2010 Prado. Both my disks were stuck so m8 were not able to get those disks released, I had to call for help and the mobile mechanic had to get the disks cut off because it was apparently suck solid. Good video mate. I dont have a 200, I just wanted to see how it compares to a 80 series. It's a similar concept, just the operating mechanism looks a little different, which you didn't really show. "Keep The Shiny Side Up" made me cringe at the end... Did Pat Callinan steel that off you...😏
