How to Adjust Blade Pressure and Adjust Material Settings in Cricut Design Space
I get so many questions about why materials do no cut all the way thru, and how to adjust material settings in Cricut Design Space so today I am going over how to adjust your blade settings, change material settings, and even create a new material setting for your machine.
Hope you all enjoy today's video!!! Today I am using Cricut Maker but you can also adjust material settings for Explore Air 2 as well.

She forgot to mention that you first need to turn the dial on your cricut to "Custom" for the material options to be available.

Thank you for the video. It was very helpful. However I'm using Premium Permanent Vinyl and I can't find that option listed under materials. I tried both Premium Vinyl and Premium Outdoor Vinyl but the knife doesn't cut all the way through. I have a Cricut Maker. Would I risk cutting through the mat if I turned the pressure way up? Is there a recommended setting for that material? Thanks!

Hi! Try the Premium Vinyl- Pearl option. It works for me most of the time. Also, if you find it doesn't quite cut perfect, you can change "default" to "more" in the material settings after you select your material. Hope that helps!

I just got my Cricut machine. I literally do not have access to the changing the pressure settings. Someone told me its not available in the ipad, but even on the desktop, I can't find it. Not on Ipad nor desktop. When I go to make it section there is no where to click or open any tabs under the material settings. I have version V6.12.227. Any advise from anyone would be appreciated.

Ok so I was able to get the changing pressure settings options by doing this....After I saved a new custom setting, I turned off my machine (while design space was open), set the dial to custom, then turned it on again. Then went to cut my project out on design space and there it was... the ability to change pressure setting and materials. Not sure if this will work for others but this worked for me.

Hi, question: (Using Cricut maker 3) I used the pink mat, and rotary blade to cut felt (not cricut brand). For material options I chose “felt, acrylic fabric.” The first cut was on the default settings for blade pressure, but it cut into the mat. I changed the blade pressure to low and it still cut the mat. Any feedback? Thank you!!

Need some help. I have never used a Cricut. My husband is doing a build on a boat model and needs to use 1/8 in. basswood. I was told my the store clerk that it would cut 1/8 in basswood but the instruction book doesn't show that. Any way to make an adjustment that would allow that or will it damage the machine?

Hi! I have tried 1/16" basswood and 2mm chipboard... there is a knife blade tool that would most likely cut thru 1/8" basswood . You would need to adjust your settings to make several shallow passes to cut thru that thickness but I wouldn't think it would damage the machine at all. Chipboard is much harder than basswood and I cut thru it all the time. Hope that helps!

Hi! If you have a dial on your machine, make sure and set it to "custom" first. Hope that helps!
