i just watched at least 10 different videos on clutch adjustment and you're the only one to actually explain the why behind all the adjustments especially the lower part, most videos just tell you what to do and learn nothing..

I never knew this 2 cards trick to adjust the clutch lever free play. In my FZi,I used a ruler to measure the slack, I had a video for that. Thanks for this, I learned something new today.

My Z1000R started stalling when I stop at a red light even though i'm holding the clutch but it doesn't when I grab it closer than usual which is uncomfortable. I tried this and it worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!

I have an issue with a bike I just bought. I am a new rider is it supposed to stall out when I hold the clutch and I am in first gear? It does it alot when I am in traffic and I am not sure why it keeps stalling out. I can only do a stop and go like 2 maybe 3 times before it stalls out. Only way for it not too is to use the throttle when I am still holding the throttle. When I do this tho the throttle acts up and starts to jerk. I need help fixing this. I am a new rider for it is hard to understand if it is suppose to be doing this but I am almost positive it's not because it wasn't doing this before.

Another good reason for having slack is to prevent dragging the clutch and premature wear on plates.

So if you back the locking nut nearest the engine - further up the cable - away from end of cable - and then lock it off then the clutch grab point is closer to the handle bar ?
@honse3 жыл бұрын
I can’t get a wrench to the top nut and there is also that metal bracket in between the two nuts. Any suggestions?

Before performing any clutch cable operation, make sure YOUR HANDLE IS STRAIGHT.

so even though you have slop in the clutch, does it always move that arm on the engine? or not until you move it more when it bites?
@lowoctane3 жыл бұрын
Should not start to push the clutch rod until you are at end of free play. You may need to adjust the lower part of the cable and the push rod adjustment (usually in line with centre of your clutch basket)

@BowzKnows6 жыл бұрын
I put some Chinese unbreakable levers on a Crf250l and today when adjusting free play by doing the 2 credit card method the clutch was way too loose while driving. To get the fiction to a normal point means that I have no free play. This I assume is still bad. File off some of the lever to gain some free play?
@TwoWheelObsession6 жыл бұрын
No, you do a full adjustment at the other end of the cable to reset it.

i cannot revmatch to slow down the bike if i keep this little freeplay sinch the clutch is far out. i like my clutch at more at like 40-50% of release, but doing that the freeplay increases drastically and the clutch lever feels loose. Any recommendation on how to deal with this issue?
@dipeshshahi1470Ай бұрын
another question, is it only me or can u revmatch easily keeping that little freeplay as u mentioned in the video?
@TwoWheelObsessionАй бұрын
Some clutches are easier than others to rev match with. Some have the engagement zone really close to one side vs the other. You still need a little slack either way.

Great video thanks for the information. I have a question, no one seems to talk about it. So I understand there should be free play at the lever. But I was wondering how that free play looks at the clutch side. I am asking because I changed my levers and when I release my clutch lever the little arm with a spring near the clutch doesn't spring back all the way in. Is that normal, or should it spring back all the way? Hope I explained clearly ;]
@100achillguy74 жыл бұрын
I am no expert but that doesn’t sound right... especially if it was different than before. For me my issue is clutch releases at the very bottom, like the last 7/8 of the lever is my “clutch”

Clutch push rod adjustment
@k_darius3 жыл бұрын
@@brucewayne2397 not really but I managed to adjust it to be ok. It was strange, but I can say there's is Freeplay on both ends. After that I had to get my second service so I asked them and they assured me that everything is property adjusted.

My manual says 10.0-15.0mm (0.39-0.59in)? That seems way to slack or am I reading it wrong ? 10 -15mm😮
@tony_18834 жыл бұрын
My guess is that it’s dimension at the end of the lever and not at the beginning (2 cards gap).
