I know I'm seven years late here but you should always remove the tyre when tightening spokes in case they protrude through the nipple & rim tape, creating a puncture waiting to happen. You sometimes need to grind them off. Great channel though, especially the carb videos.

Eh seems overkill. I’ve never had that happen, I always have two layers of duct tape though, not the super thin rim tape that you get from the stores

Nice tip. It does sound time consuming though. I'll keep up with it by spraying wd-40 after every wash.
@HTMR11 жыл бұрын
It may have looked that way, but the spoke wrench I was using was like 3-4" long and the nipples were difficult to turn.

man that TUSK tool looks like your having a hell of a time, any good brand of small adjustables will do the trick and be much easier and faster
@HTMR8 жыл бұрын
I tried adjustables and the jaws have some slop which will result in stripped nipples for sure.
@Jrod_FPV3 жыл бұрын
@@HTMR yeah i know what you mean about the slop. i've found you have to retighten the adjustment once you put the wrench on the nipple each time. Also have to put the nipple all the way into the jaws of the wrench. lastly, quality tool helps over cheap tools.

I made them as tight as the other ones. I know they make torque wrenches, but I'm not dropping the coin on one.

Hi do the same with the pliers but good to loosen all the way and get a tiny wire brush and clean the whole thread spray ya oil on takes a little longer but lasts longer like brand new never tried heat would probably work if ya had no choice take your tube out do that
@HTMR9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip.
@mAdAsZaC11 жыл бұрын
Best way to do that (as you did) but undo the spoke heaps and clean it with a wire brush.. its time consuming but i dab a little grease on and makes it less likely to seize again

It's hard watching you adjust fighting with your jammed on adjusters crazy stuff

WHY NOT TAKE A FEW STOKES WITH A METAL FILE ON THAT TOUGH WRENCH TIGHTNESS - IT WOULD HELP MAKE IT FIT BETTER AND EASIER
@BriggsMower11 жыл бұрын
nice video dont make them to tight or you will buckle the wheel
@jonthelamb45494 жыл бұрын
I’ve gotten away with using a 6mm wrench but it’s sketchy
@331moto2 жыл бұрын

@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
Soak them for weeks and spray every few days, they will come loose.
@gtocamaro2310 жыл бұрын
Already in the process every single spoke on my wheel was as loose as the loosest one in ur video I can't believe how bad it is...
@edgarsantos37456 жыл бұрын
Rob, can you feel your bike shakes? I have the same problem, loosen and stuck spokes, and I feel my bike shakes, side to side, like i have a warped wheel (only in low speed, near to idle runnig)... I dont know if it is the cause....
@romandybala6 жыл бұрын
Bro , you are turning them the wrong way if you are trying to tighten them. If the spokes are stainless they arent rusted . Stainless nipples on stainless spoke gall and bind, When ever you take them off put some copper or moly antisieze grease on the threads
@HTMR6 жыл бұрын
Bro, sometimes you have to go both ways to break the corrosion free.
@chevypickup42683 жыл бұрын
You should show what brand of adjuster tool so people know what not to buy
